Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
Aqara is a leading smart home device manufacturer that was founded back in 2009.? My latest article provides a hands on review of Aqara's latest smart lock, the U300.? Unlike most smart locks, the U300 is a lever lock, not a deadbolt lock.? In addition, the U300 is compatible with the Matter smart home standard so it can be integrated with a wide variety of smart home platforms without the need for a separate hub from the manufacturer.
You can find the article here: For those interested in earlier articles that I've written, you can find those here: For these interested in even earlier content that I wrote, you can find it all here though older content has formatting issues due to a transfer from blogspot to wordpress. Thanks |

Global Cache IP2IR sensor input (RMC4)
Has anyone used the IP2IR as a sensor input?
?
Apparently it broadcasts state changes via udp on port 9132, using a multicast IP of 239.255.250.250.?
Does the UDP symbol in simpl windows listen on multicast IP¡¯s like that? ?I¡¯ve not had a manufacturer specify a multicast IP in the past, just UDP in general, and I most often specify 0.0.0.0 on the symbol.?
Thanks,

Re: Dmx controller options
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI?m currently having an Enttec S-Play Nano on my desk i?m planning to use for a homecinema room. You can create cues and playlists directly on the device (via web interface) and just trigger them via hardware inputs or programmatically via UDP (you just define a string as a trigger in the device and send that out via Crestron to the device) That works pretty well, but I don?t have long term experience with it, yet. With a software update to the S-Play Mini, you can also use it directly as an Artnet/SACnet gateway from Crestron. ? Cheers, Thorsten ? Von: [email protected] <[email protected]> Im Auftrag von Dillon Costanza via groups.io ? Hello, ? Just wondering what everyone is recommending for dmx integration these days? ? Thanks in advance |

Re: DM-NAX-4ZSP
Yeah, historically the music streamer product category has had an issue with hardware reliability (Except KScape and Sonos).
I have had pretty good luck with the MMS-1e. Also having 4 chassis' give you a level of redundancy as well.
Also with (4) MMS-1e's you can set them up as one shared system or as four independent players with separate favorites, etc.
?
In general the streaming digital music industry is a disaster, at least regarding integration...? it's truly a 'Lord giveth, Lord taketh' situation at best...
I miss the old CD librarian systems like Audio Request (Though they had major HW issues as well!!!)
I think that pretty much everything these days is unreliable to one extent or another... |

Re: TS-xx70 Multiple IP Table Entries Issue
The issue you are describing is exactly how it has always worked. When the pannel connects to the program, Simpl will refresh all join's from 1 to the last join defined join. Like this - TP connects to P1 and gets all the info for lets say join 1 - 1000, because 1000 was the last join defined in the program. TP connects to P2 and gets all the info for join 1 - 2000, because 2000 was the last join defined in the program. The old way of doing it would be JNR(join Number Remapping. I was looking for a updated version of this and cant find it. Smart Graphic Joins might work differently. You could possibly just remove the SG object from the panel of one program while having it in the other.

Re: TS-xx70 Multiple IP Table Entries Issue
Yes I intentionally skipped 04 to 12h.? Since some of it was being used by the first program slot.
IP-ID 13 is in hex.?
?
1 panel with multiple IP-IDs has worked for me in the past with a 1060.
One scenario where a client wanted to mirror the room touch panel from the rack room touch panel.
Note that there are over 13 rooms so managing 13 EICs (this was before EIC server/client was available) would've been a nightmare.
What I did was the rack room processor would change 1 of the IP Table entries of the touch panel and then do a project restart.
Thus IP-ID 04 would connect to the room processor and ip-id 13 would connect to the rack room processor. Since all the room processor would have an extra offline touch panel on IP-ID 04 where the room panel would be on 03. But in SIMPL code 03 and 04 would be identical.
?
Just needed manage join numbers weren't being overlapped.
Such as joins 1-1000 would be for room control and 1001-2000 would be for the rack room program.
And yes it worked. The rack room panel could select a room button to mirror the room panel and it would modify the ip table of the rack room panel and to a command 'projectrestart' (about a 90 second project load time) to reconnect to both processors.
?
In my last program I did something similar but this is for a 770 and a DMPS.
2 ip-table entries on the same touch panel but not different processors. Same processor ip.
?
I did this because program slot 1 is working and written by another programmer. Client wanted to add camera controls.
I didn't really want to modify program slot 1, and get blamed for not making the system work.
So I wanted to load a program on slot 2 and avoid the join numbers used in the first program.
Loaded it on my test bench dmps and 1060 and it worked.
?
Onsite, the dmps and 770 worked initially until it didn't. When the 2nd program got up and running, it would clear out the feedback of buttons and analog joins from the first program and buttons no longer responded. It seemed as though all the joins were being sent to the 2nd program only and not to both. Same program different touch panels, different behavior.....

Re: DM-NAX-4ZSP
I recently tried this setup myself for my home.
Over the years I have not been very happy about Autonomics reliability at my client's home so I wanted to see how this would work as an alternative.
?
I use it the same way you described. I only use it as a 4 zone media player.
?
I have not used it for very long, but so far its been reliable.
I have only tried Tidal , Podcasts and TuneIn.
?
I have not used it for weeks and before writing this and tested it out and its still going.
?
I think the price point / features vs Autonomics is worth looking into. |

Re: DM-NAX-4ZSP
Ckangis,
Thanks for the reply.
The system in question uses a Crestron C2N-AMP-6x100 to distribute 4 FM-AM Tuners along with four other sources and doorbell tones to 5 areas. All in/outs are analog.?
While the DM-NAX-4ZSP appears to have may capabilities in this case I would use the 4 analog outputs (each for one of the streaming players), if that is a suitable combination.
I do not have personal experience with Autonomic that you recommended; I will explore that option.?
?
Other options or suggestions?
Many Thanks
