Re: SimplWindows thinks a signal I deleted still exists
Ive had a corrupt module not update like that before.... I've actually had a Processor Hardware Definition get corrupted like that as well, necessitating a rebuild from the ground up... I want to say that was on a system that was setup a decade ago and a more recent database update didn't go so hot.?
?
Super rare. Glad you got it fixed.? |

Thanks but I'm ok for now.? The only thing wrong with me is is going to Dunkies and being told how much the bill is with my senior citizen discount.? Just thinking proactive.? My father died at 62.? His father died at 57 and I'm 68. |
Re: SimplWindows thinks a signal I deleted still exists
Thanks.? I actually always do a recompile all (Alt-F12) vs a recompile (F12).? I think the safety of knowing that everything is coordinated is worth the additional compile time wait because I am constantly jumping into C# and S+ modules.

That being said, recompile all didn't fix the problem. Thanks again Jay On 9/27/2024 12:53 PM, MSTC via groups.io wrote:

Never mind.? I added a second copy of the umc file to the program, individually copied the signals from the old version to the new version, and then deleted the old version of the module.

I deleted a signal from the output of a .umc module in one of my SimplWindows programs and replace it with "//" so the module is complete.? The signal is no longer being used so it has been completely removed from everywhere in my SimplWindows program. The Argument Definition of the .umc file looks like this:
[~BeginGroup~]Master_Bedroom_Window_Settings Leave_MBed_Window_Open [~EndGroup~]Master_Bedroom_Window_Settings When I compile the SimplWindows program I get? a warning that the signal name that I deleted has no driving source and a notice that the signal has no destination.? When I double click on either of these in program compilation dialog it takes me to the [~BeginGroup~]Master_Bedroom_Window_Settings output of the module. I've tried exiting / restarting SimplWindows along with deleting the SPIsWork Folder. Any ideas on how to get SimplWindows to realize that this signal has really been deleted would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help Jay |

That's a very difficult situation, I'm sure. It's clear that you love him and are wanting to make provisions for him, which is beautiful!!
I think that the router is the key to preparing and managing the setup as it makes it internally manageable...
Please reach out to me directly if I can be of more specific assistance!!... |

Yes, various but not known in advance ISP's.? He would need a router with his own WiFi for his ios tablet Crestron app.? Not to worried about remote management when the time comes to put this into play because I'll most likely be gone aka no view of the green side of grass.? He's severely autistic and pretty much everything that matters to him is his games, movies and ipad.? I want to make sure he has that where ever he ends up when the time comes.? Hopefully not to soon. |
Re: Toolbox works with SSH, but not SSL
The CTP/SCTP settings are disabled by default, and can't be enabled. That also should not affect SSL connections.

It was working before and I'm fairly sure the settings are correct, but I'm waiting for someone on-site to send me screenshots. I'm also waiting on a VPN config file for my phone, so I can check the local connection myself. I'm sure I'll eventually get the mobile app sorted, but my main question for now is why I can't connect to that processor over SSL. At first I thought the mobile app issue was related, but now think it might not be (getting conflicting reports from the site), but I'd still like to know, out of curiosity. No, I think it's the latest for the 3-series, 1.8001.5362.29861.

Re: Toolbox works with SSH, but not SSL
SSL setting in Toolbox is SCTP/41797, that's most likely disabled on the processor and should not be related to Crestron Go not connecting.
Crestron go uses per default HTTPS/443 and SCIP/41796 (or HTTP/80, CIP/41794 when unsecure).
?
Was this working before? If not, and you are sure the settings in the app are correct, check in the security settings of the iPad that the Crestron Go app has LAN access. |

Yes, it's the same on both.

Does anyone know why I can connect to a CP3 with Toolbox using SSH, but not SSL?
It has the latest firmware, Authentication is enabled, and SSL is On. I have two other identical processors that both connect using SSL. The client initially complained of Crestron Go not working, but while troubleshooting I ran across this, which I think is related. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Dumb-ass question of the day. Condo and Apt complex internet/cable provider
If I'm understanding the requirement properly, you want to have a duplicate system that is 'portable' and would need to interface with various ISPs, is that correct?
If so, I think you would would just need a router within your setup that would manage the various devices' IP addresses internal to the system. This would, when brought to another location, just need to plug the router's 'WAN' port into the new location's network.
This would give your setup an internet connection but allow all the devices to be isolated and managed within itself.
?
Other thoughts:
- This setup, because it is a 'Double-NAT'd' setup (Your system is now two steps from the ISP), would not easily allow for remote management like a VPN. There are some ways to overcome this if remote access is necessary.
- You would want to make your system's IP scheme notably different than any typical ISP or managed local network. I.E. stay away from 192.168.1.x, 192.168.0.x, 10.0.0.x, etc. - I would use something like 10.31.101.x so that you would not have any conflicts.
- If you would need to connect via Wifi to the other location's network vs. wired ethernet, that would be a bit more involved but doable...? Definitely a hard-wired connection will be your best, simplest friend |
