Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?

Don't know about CRPC issues because I don't use it on the TSR310.? But I wouldn't think it would be an issue as that would probably mean Crestron Go CRPC would not work too if you are on a different subnet.
?
Unsure what is causing the Rokus to pull from the NAX as I haven't been back to investigate.? But if I unplug the NAX, the multicast traffic to the Rokus stops.? Maybe the Roku's are acting as an IGMP Proxy although when I have configured routers to act as an IGMP Proxy in the past, it is for routing IGMP traffic to a different subnet.? The Roku however only has one subnet going to it so doing an IGMP Proxy seems meaningless.

Re: HD-MD8X2 questions

I've been buried with other more important issues and haven't had any time to sort this out.? The monitor I'm using for this test is a actual 1080P computer monitor with no internal speakers.? I do have a small Samsung 1080P TV that I can hook up and try along with a spare Dune HD? media player set to 1080P.? That would better represent what it's actually expected to do.? I'll try this later on today when I get home from work on my day off.

CP3 - MyCrestron Registration Failed

Hi All,
So I have a project that we just updated last month with an existing CP3 (probably 7+ years old).?
I'm noticing this in the error logs every few days, and I'm thinking that this is an old registration left over from years ago.
?83. Notice: SimplSharpPro.exe # 2024-07-16 04:38:33 ?# MyCrestron Registration Failed - Domain Name does not exist
I would have set it up with the browser web interface way back when, and now the account or other is no longer operational.
?
Of course we can no longer manage the 3-series with a browser. Is there any way to undo these settings via console? I did search around and found the MyCrestron commands in console but it returns the following:
mycrestron ?
Format: MyCrestron DOMAIN PASSWORD
DOMAIN - sets MyCrestron domain
PASSWORD - sets MyCrestron password
No parameter - displays current setting
?
CP3>mycrestron
MyCrestron Status: Not Registered
System Last Successfully Registered: N/A
Domain: none, Password: Set
?
Any ideas?? TIA!
?

Re: Resideo / Honeywell WiFi Thermostat

on first glance, it looks like the login needs an OAuth token, which is tricky and can only be done in SIMPL#, which is why there is a Home Driver. Someone could make a driver for SIMPL, but I'm pretty sure they're gonna want to get paid for it.

Re: TV Presets v2.0

There probably needs to be a longer delay between each command. As someone else mentioned, modifying the IR driver might also help.

Eventually, but it still wasn't working, so after a TB phone call we set up something that did the trick, even though it took 7 symbols to do it the way that I needed it.
We did end up tying it to the TP fb the way you're describing, though.

This particular site needs to go, but I may still experiment on the method described in this wonderful Forum.

thanks much for checking on me,

Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?

Thanks, Michael and Steve,
This is a very interesting discussion! I hope we will be able to refine what we should be doing...
?
Michael, I hadn't thought about the fact of the 'null' condition (TSRs trying to connect to the same SSID on an AP that doesn't have a MAC# assignment). I'll need to do some researching on that...
?
Steve, I use those commands regularly! though I like your timing approach (shop vs. site)
?- In a related story...? Remember when you could connect to processors and other devices in console in about 2-3 seconds?? Now every connection is 20-30 seconds (Likely because of Auth BS!)
****? I want my life back!!!!

And Steve,?

B) What are the RoKus trying to pull from the NAX's?? or are they just seeing the NAX's and try to connect??

Re: Timeout to Start Login page.

You didn't tie it to the feedback for the page on the touch panel definition?

OK. I tried that, and it looks nice, but like my other previous attempts, I can't seem to tie it in to the right thing to make it go to the Start Page.
I even tied it to a hidden button w/ a Digital press # on the TP, but now they both say that they have no destination.
Like I said, it may be obvious to everyone but me, as I'm still pretty green.
Hint?

i am also keen and trying to get Hisense to do an iP driver. Keen to see if this gets any traction.

Alternatively , if any of you has been able to learn its ir codes and have a file saved , your assistance would be much appreciated.

I've been swamped and have not had a chance to look at this issue since Thorsten talked about it.? I include source code for the majority of my drivers so people with urgent needs don't have to wait on me.

However, since you are seeing this with someone else's Crestron Home driver (mine is just for Simpl), it is looking like this is something Sensibo has done with their API.

Hope this helps

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm in the same situation. Just dusted off vs2008 but it won't create the .clz file. Were you able to find a solution?

Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?

Edited

Steve, can ?you share those console commands with us? ?TIA
?
Any console command will do.? Examples would be
ECHO ON
DHCP
EST
?
I usually ssh into the TSR310 from my host Linux laptop instead of using toolbox.?? I issue an "ECHO ON" command so I can see what I am typing when using ssh.? When I set up the TSR310 offline site, I set up the TSR310 all through an SSH connection and TSR-310 would respond to something like EST within a few seconds.? When I got to the job site, that same command would take 30 seconds to respond or not at all.? Client has a lot of IOT stuff on his main network.? After setting up a separate VLAN and SSID for the TSR310s, the TSR-310s started to responding to SSH commands quickly again.? And after doing the other things I specified, the TSR-310s appear to be working properly.
?
The AV stuff (Theater and another room) is on a CP3.? There is also a Crestron Home CP4R with an NAX audio distribution (No TSR-310s on the CP4R).? Interesting to note that client has a number of Rokus in the house.? Two of those Rokus are pulling all the streams from the pair of NAXs.? That resulted in those Rokus constantly having 54mbps of NAX multicast traffic going to each of them all the time.? The other older Rokus in the house do not do this.? At least one of the Rokus pulling the NAX streams does have a problem with overheating.?? Not sure how I am going to fix the issue.? Ideally, it would be best to keep the Rokus from requesting the NAX streams but I see no option in these Rokus to stop this action.? Tried assigning different multicast addresses to the NAX but no change -- these Rokus will just start requesting the streams again.? Really weird.? If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciated it.

Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?

Michael,
What do you think of the idea that I mentioned where you have (Hidden SSID) across the system (ex: CrestronTSRs) so that you only have one SSID to maintain for the TSRs, but have MAC# assignments for specific TSRs to Specific APs so that they won't roam??

I would expect it to work poorly.? Then again, someone could test this and prove me wrong.? This is because I'm guessing that a common failure mechanism that applies to other WiFi products also applies here, without actual knowledge of that.

MAC assignments are just a reason for the AP to refuse a connection.? The TSR isn't going to know to not to try an AP based on its MAC address without actually trying.? I expect it could get hung up trying.? If the AP refusing based on MAC has the loudest signal strength (from the device's perspective), the device might never consider trying?any alternates.

The failure mechanism?I describe is one where a device persistently tries talking to an AP that can't hear it, can't establish two-way communication, and the algorithm on the device is too basic to give up and say "let's try another AP".? Instead the logic is "while (result != success) keep trying the loudest AP"? and the device is frozen while this continues to fail.? This happens when the logic for picking the network gets written by the integrator of the product whose expertise isn't necessarily in the gritty details of WiFi... sort of if you had to engineer your own WiFi stack in S+ just to get things to connect, and had to deal with channels etc...? It would work in your dev lab but would be touchy in the real world.? Single AP SSID mimics the dev lab conditions the best.

Does not mean a single device must be alone on the SSID.
?
Lately my strategy for setting up a robust network includes having SSIDs meant for computers and phones (these roam well) on multiple AP's, and then have hidden SSID's?that are unique per AP that I use when I want to force a dumber device to use a specific AP because I know its permanent location.? The crucial factor is using a unique?SSID per AP for this purpose (and not per remote).? (I hide these per-AP SSID's because they're confusing to the end user, but... be aware that hidden SSIDs perform even worse for roaming purposes if multiple AP's are serving them, the broadcasts are important for roaming to work cleanly, so... only use this idea for one SSID per AP)
