Rollease driver not loading after processor reboot #crestronhome #cp4r

After processor reboot, control of shades is lost. The Rollease Hub 2 still shows online but all shades associated report "Driver failed to load". Each shade then has to be reassigned to the room and added back into programming scenes/quick actions, etc.

Re: Sonos control is still working?

@Steve Kuehn that is an interesting point about WiFi on Sonos. I will test this theory soon after we rip out Sonos and put in Autonomics, maybe that was an issue all along.?

Crestron Home - DM Transmitters

Hi All,

Anyone have any issues with Crestron Home and DM Transmitters not appearing in the Pair Devices Folder? ?The DM-MD-16x16-CPU3 recognizes everything (all input, output cards, room boxes and transmitters) and shows properly in DM Tools and cards command. ?However, when added as a device in CH, the DMC-C-DSP input cards get skipped over in the source routes section and the connected DM Transmitters (DM-TX-401-C and DM-TX-201-C) don't appear in the Pair Devices folder that is created that normally contain the room boxes.

Support has basically said to ensure all DM devices have up to date firmware and to do a restore on the transmitters that aren't getting imported, neither have solved the issue. ?Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Program load to processor - best practice

Thank you guys for the good information. I do agree that the 2 series processors are rather outdated and somewhat finicky at best. While it would be nice to be able to upgrade to a current processor, replacing the Adagio AMS-AIP (or AES) system with current equipment would require a bunch of separate components to mirror the functionality. Considering that I have the AMS-AIP, an ADMS-G2, an AAS, an Idocv and several touchpanels in the system currently, replacing that on a retired income budget is out of the question for me. To my knowledge, there is no single piece of current Crestron equipment that can replace the AMS-AIP, with that kind of functionality.

I have enjoyed learning the Adagio line and SIMPL programming with the help of online tutorials and much trial and error and I have done well so far considering my age of 76 and a memory not what it used to be. Keeps me busy and out of trouble!

Again, thanks for the help!

Yeah, this has actually been a problem in the last ~6 months. I hadn't seen it before but they just keep coming up with new issues...:(
I just logged into a site yesterday and had to manually restart my slot program because the comms were off but the Offline was low...for hours...

We've just stopped spec'ing Sonos. they are a lousy partner so I don't want to encourage them (though they don't care anyway...)

I see what you did there, Brian!! Good One!!!...:)

I agree with Brian about this. I pretty much never use slave/remote devices for 3/4-way circuits, because you always seem to need a 'keypad' where the slave is in the chain, so we just spec 'masters (Dim, Sw or KPEX) every where. its easier to estimate and is way more flexible...

Though I'm not a fan of the HZ line, here are a couple notes to help:
1. The KPEX units can actually act as slaves when using the traveler wire!! so you kind of get the best of both worlds - Keypads all around when the program is running, fall-back to 3/4-way slaves if the program goes offline...
This frankly should almost never happen, especially if you have the processor/gateways/CresnetHub, etc.? on a UPS (which you should!!)
2. I would check with Crestron about how many KPEX's you can have as back-up slaves on a circuit. "technically" there's no particular reason that you couldn't have 6,7,8 KPEX's...But I'm not sure...
3. That said, even if you have 7-8 devices on a circuit, you could use KPEX's for the secondary locations and identify the 3-4 most important locations for Fall-Back/Slave functionality and only connect the travelers on these units...this would be a good compromise...

Re: Sonos control is still working?

Just curious if anyone is using the "offline" output on the Sonos Device module.? I haven't seen a case yet when a Sonos end point gets dropped and the "offline" output doesn't go high.? I would think you could OR all offline outputs on your Sonos Device modules and if the output of the OR goes high, reboot the system after a predetermined time.?

Like CO Cowboy, it hasn't been a big issue for me and like him, I am not doing any grouping.? Instead, If I see the Sonos is grouped via the Crestron module, I display a message that the room is grouped and to? use the Sonos app instead with a link to the Sonos App.

Also, I make sure if there is an Ethernet connection to the Sono, I turn off WiFi in the Sonos Setting as I have seen countless cases were Sonos will switch to WiFi -- even if it has a much better Ethernet connection.? Possibly when it switches Ethernet adapters, it screws up the Crestron module.

Re: Sonos control is still working?

About 50% of my systems are like that...
The other 50% are a problem...
Haven't found anything unique about them...3 and 4-series, various FW versions, various vintages, various network hardware, etc., etc.
The good sites have same/similar stuff, no discernable differences.

Hi Brian!

Thanks for the reply. ?So, which of the Apex/Aux/SWEX ?are best for my use case? ?In fact, thinking about it. ?Is there any reason, save the Crestron system going down, to use the traveller?

Thank You Very Much

Re: HZ2 for 5 or 6way Lighting Load Circuit

You can add as many KPEX devices as you want and just make them "programmatically" control the load.
Just connect them to hot power only and ignore the traveler.

We do this quite often with the Cameo (Word Up) line of dimmers when we want more that a single load control.

Good luck,
Brian

Re: Sonos control is still working?

Edited

This is all really odd, as I have several (probably 20) systems out there running Sonos, with no issues.
I've had a few fail, but after they are replaced with a Port they March on, without a programming change.
I do recall, it took me a bit to master an initialize startup, but after that has been great.
[Side note - I'm not using any groupings, or other features. Just favorites, being selected from the smart graphics. ]

Re: Zoom with Flex Systems

Edited

Hoping this is not too off topic but have you utilized AirMedia with a Flex Zoom Room system? I have followed all the guides to put the AirMedia into "Flex Mode" but I cannot seem to get the Flex (UC-PR) to switch to the AirMedia content. All AirMedia apps etc show as connected but I never get the content switch at the display. Just continue to see the Zoom home page at the display (output of UC-ENGINE).

HZ2 for 5 or 6way Lighting Load Circuit

Hi All!

I have the above hard wired wall switches, in a working lighting situation. ?I read the the Hz2 Dimmers and the Aux or KPEX are Gggod with up to a 4 way circuit. ?Any advice on a workaround or if anyone has added a greater number of the accessory device above?

Thank you very much

Re: Program load to processor - best practice

Yea agreed. ?we dont really work with 2 series anymore. ?they are so old that you wind up spending too much time troubleshooting. ?

It's more cost effective to just replace it with a modern processor than spend the man hours making the 2 series compile and load properly. ?

I dont know actual numbers but I'm pretty sure a cheap RMC4 can run circles around a Pro2. ?Then the client has the added benefit of something thats under support and warranty again.

Re: Program load to processor - best practice

I think in most cases, the it makes no difference if you erase first or just over write the program.? My understanding of the file system with flash is when ever you erase or replace a file, the original program gets mark as delete and it not recovered until the file system is compacted.? If the processor does not have enough unused flash to load the program, it will compact the file system to recover the lost storage.

However, I've seen some cases where some large programs are so busy that the cause the processor to crash when attempting to load a program.? In those cases, it is best to stop the original program first using the console command "STOPPROG" before loading the new program.

The series 2 processors are getting quite old now and I have found issues when trying to compile/load programs/firmware for them with newer Crestron software -- in particular toolbox.? Some functions can only be done with Viewport -- the predecessor to Toolbox. So when I program a series 2, most of the time I use older versions of Crestron software and run them in a Virtual Box Window XP machine as some of Crestron's older software will not run with newer versions of Windows.

Program load to processor - best practice

Still learning and have a question on loading new and/or updated programs to the control processor, in this case a 2-series on the AMS-AIP.?

What is the best practice when loading/updating the program, should the currently running program be stopped and then erased before the updated program is uploaded to the processor?

I ask because sometimes when uploading the program toolbox says compacting file system which leads me to believe that it is adding the new program to NVRAM as opposed to replacing the currently running program.

Just want to do thing right so hopefully one of you will have the answer.

Thanks,

Don
