OT: iPORT ethernet adapters
Hi All,
For those who might have tried this, iPORT had an interface module (72101) that provides not only POE, but also ethernet for iPads when they are docked. If you have used them have you had any issues with them? We have had some issues with the ethernet connectivity even with the SurfaceMount units (fixed wall mount). Clearly it could be the iPads, which are connected to Ruckus Switches, brand-new and on iOS17 but the behavior seems as if it could be related to the interface as well... FYI: ?- SurfaceMount units ship with the 72101 POE/Ethernet interfaces, so if you have installed them, that is what is connecting them. ?- ConnectPro WallStations come with the 72109 POE-Only Interface. We swapped these for the 72101 for ethernet connection while docked. I'm hoping that we don't have to swap out all of the ethernet interfaces...:( |

DMPS3-4K-150-C Firmware update failing
I recently acquired one of these units for my home lab (I'm an AV programmer) and I'm having an issue with updating the firmware on it.
It currently has the old v1.011.0028 (Sept.2015) firmware on it, but it fails whenever I try updating it. For the record, I've had to do this in the field before and know how to incrementally step the fw versions. However, I can FTP the zip, run PUSHUPDATE FULL, and it goes through 99% of the unpacking process up until it says "Performing updates... This will take up to 20 minutes" This is followed shortly after by "Warning: GetReportDmOutput failed with exception: Timed-out waiting for prompt." and sometimes "PersistentLog is suspended, please contact dealer." before it kicks me back to command on text console. Running version command after still shows "Cntrl Eng [v1.011.0028 (Sep 10 2015)" For reference, I'm attempting to use the v1.007.0218 version zip as the first step. Anyone seen or know how to bypass that error, or what the root cause might be? I've already done init, restore, cleared nvram, and everything else I could think of. Any help before I can get on with TB Monday would be much appreciated! |
Re: Fusion Research
Thanks all!!? That solves my issue!!? If they still want to go that way, my dev price will keep going up until they say 'No Mas, No Mas!!!'...:)
Matt Jones - Its an interesting RS Article as it looks like an SG implementation, but it definitely doesn't exist...they probably cheaped out...Haha |
Re: Fusion Research
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý . . . I just spoke with them and am actually shocked that they don't have any module/interfaces for their products particularly since they've been around 10+ years... ? This sounds like an excellent reason to recommend strongly that this product line should be avoided.? Run, don¡¯t walk, in a different direction. ? From: <[email protected]> on behalf of ckangis <chris@...> ? I have a dealer that I do programming for that is looking to start using FR (he's not happy with the other main options...). |
Re: Fusion Research
We tried it for a minute years ago when video servers started to be a thing.
In our opinion, it had its problems and we stuck with Request. In the last few years we haven't really done many movie servers but when they do come up its been?kaleidescape. Music servers hasnt been a thing since everyone switched to streaming. For that we have mostly used Autonomic. Personally I like having a sonos player and use my phone or alexa to select the music. I have Request at home and I cant remember the last time I used it to play music. I only use it to play movies. As far as modules, I am pretty sure I have seen them before. There is also an article about the music server working with SG: |
Re: Fusion Research
I've only seen Fusion Research used in systems a few times, but have never been impressed.

I'm sure there are Crestron modules available, but the last one I personally worked with was over 10 years ago. I'll have to dig up that old program to see exactly what I used. However, I'd say you're better off sticking with Autonomic, BlueSound, NAX, or Sonos, in that order. What exactly does "not happy with the other main options" mean? Whatever their issues are, there's probably a better solution than Fusion Research :-) And "might be interested in video" could also mean lots of different things. Kaleidescape is still king, if they want a true video server. I haven't seen ANY other "wannabe" servers (like Fusion Research) come close, or that are worth the headaches. If not Kaleidescape, the reliable alternatives are Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, NVidia, etc. - but that's really apples and oranges. You or the dealer will need to know EXACTLY what the client's desires or expectations are before making a recommendation. --- On Friday, January 5, 2024 at 4:11 PM, ckangis wrote: |

This project is primarily Music, but might be interested in video as well... Has anyone built anything that they'd want to share (I looked in the Files and nothing)?? Or am I right that they are a bit player that is not really serious for our market?? |
Re: UAI Plus control using 232

On a Large University network I have no idea what its connected to or what its IP is or if we can even reach it. I'm getting a response from it every-time the modules communicating signal goes high it returns a list of motors and issues a new id number in what looks like JSON but the module never initializes

It can be a PITA if the shade installer didn't set up the groups correctly. What happens if you open up a browser and try to control the shades?

UAI Plus control using 232
#somfy
Hello
I am integrating a CP4N using 232 and UAI+ on Port1 using 1.5 Modules I get a response when its communicating with what appears to be a list of motors which matches what i received from the installers but the module never initializes, so I am unable to send any commands through it, does anybody have any thoughts. Thank You in advance BNK |
Re: Denon DN-T625
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI get my group posts by email.? There was no indication of the (also dinosaur) post to which you were replying, or that it was even a reply as opposed to a new post. ? The salient point, as you seem to have discovered, is that there is apparently no module available for download anywhere.? Someone may have it in their User Modules and be willing to share, but otherwise it seems the best and quickest way to find at least the protocol document is to contact D-M Pro and ask them for it. ? From: <[email protected]> on behalf of Andrew Dearden <dearden.andrew@...> ? I was referring to where "the module on the Crestron site for the Denon DN-T645" might be found or what "Crestron site" Don was originally referring to. |
Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
Shelly smart home products are manufactured by Shelly Group, a provider of IoT and smart building solutions based in Sofia, Bulgaria.? At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Shelly is announcing a number of new products including "Gen3" products that include some significant enhancements over their current Plus line of smart home products.? My latest article looks at all the new products that Shelly has announced.
You can find the article here: For those interested in earlier articles that I've written, you can find those here: I've found a new site to host my blog so for those that want to see even more content I've written about smart home technology you can find that using the link below. The process of exporting all my old content from Blogger and importing it into WordPress was far from perfect. So there are formatting issues with old posts and images that didn't import. I will see what I can do about correcting some of these issues over time. Thanks |
