Re: Crestron GO and iOS 16.x
Me too. Clients (and myself) with new Pixels arent happy. At least for me on my home system I have had to resort to keeping an Xpanel open on my PC and using Google Remote Desktop from the phone to connect to that PC and control my system. But I was a big user of the app widgets for quick access to things like garage doors and such- but i'm sure as they did with the iOS app they will remove that functionality.?

Re: Sony VPL-VW695ES projector with RS-232 control
Hmm I have several sites where we have various VPL projectors that are hooked up 232 (because we need the user picture position presets for aspect ratio settings), and they are also connected ethernet for OVRC monitoring and FW updates. Havent seen the control break on any of them. Using the VW1000ES 1.0 module as well but I see we also changed the polling in it to poll only the necessary items, as it has tons of useless polling in it that just isnt needed.?

DMPS-300-C With Shure SLX4 Control
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello All, ? ??????????????? I am working on a projector for the first time with microphones. I am running two Shure SLX4 units to Mic1 and Mic2 on a DMPS-300-C. I have control over the gain working, just can¡¯t get the meter gauge I installed working correctly. Anyone able to lend a hand on this? ? Josh Bloom DMC-E |
Re: What is everyone using for IR with VC4?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI second the recommendation from Lincoln using old DM-RMCs. I think many of us have a couple of these buried somewhere in old boxes in a dark corner of the office and I think it?s much better to reuse them instead of just throwing them away. Reusing some 2-series processors can also make sense if you have a couple of other stuff to control in a rack to justify the additional power consumption, but if it?s really just one or two remote devices to control, the RMCs are just fine¡ ? Cheers, Thorsten ? Von: [email protected] <[email protected]> Im Auftrag von Lincoln King-Cliby via groups.io ? People still use IR? (ducks and runs) ? Aside from an EISC or slave (can you slave a 2-series to VC4¡hmm?) an old processor if you have an old fully caffeinated DM-RMC handy (DM-RMC-100, DM-RMC-100-C, DM-RMC-100-S, ....) you can use these for the IO ports even without using DM for video ¨C just connect the Ethernet port to network and make sure you either have it configured to run DHCP or with an appropriate static IP address. ? It¡¯s a little janky but these are the times we¡¯re in and you can use native Crestron IR drivers¡ ? Lincoln ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS, DMC-E-4K/T/D ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chris.estes@... ? I have a few projects that I can't get processors for and the only thing holding me back from doing VC4 on them is I need IR. The CEN-IO-IR is back-order as long as the processor is, so what products have y'all had success with for IR? |
Re: Marantz NR1711 AVR - IP Control via SMW
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOK, yes ¨C the Nexgentec suggested by me is definitely not a budget solutions¡ What are your friend?s requirements? I understand it needs to be low-profile? Install will be visible? Or are there options to hide a unit? 4K, 3D-Sound required? Just another option for a small form factor multichannel unit: Episode EA-MINI-5.1D-200. List price also above 1KEU, so I guess it?s also out of budget, but wanted to add as this became a good thread for collecting small form factor multichannel decoders. ? ? Cheers, ? What colour are [~UNUSED~]?
If they are not green, that's you're problem. Not in front of my laptop, but if I recall, Project>Recompute signal types |

Thanks, Guys!!
Oliver and David: The BackPack looks really cool!...So sad that it will be killed within the year...:(? ? It's been acquired by Savant you say? then its probably DOA...HaHa...? ?Seriously, I would definitely be concerned because of this...I don't trust Savant and am still surprised that they're still in business... Zac and Thorsten: Those are interesting options - I had forgot about the Extron piece. Unfortunately, this is for a friend's (like most of us, not wealthy like our clients') system so since he needs (2) will probably have to stick with the 1510 for budget reasons... |

Re: Marantz NR1711 AVR - IP Control via SMW
Hi,
there?s also the nexgentec NGTC-MCP4K: 1HE, half rack width. Cheers, Thorsten -----Urspr¨¹ngliche Nachricht----- Von: [email protected] <[email protected]> Im Auftrag von Oliver Hall Gesendet: Montag, 2. Januar 2023 10:41 An: [email protected] Betreff: Re: [crestron] Marantz NR1711 AVR - IP Control via SMW Hi Chris, Have you checked out the Artison Backpack P5? It¡¯s only 5.1, but super slim (designed to go behind a tv) and the control is solid (we¡¯ve done a module for it). Cheers, Oliver |
Re: Marantz NR1711 AVR - IP Control via SMW
We have used a few of the Marantz slim AV amps with IP control, and never an issue, BUT we have only ever asked for simple one way commands 0/1, source, volume, mute etc. The Artison Backpack 5 is also really good with IP control. Its slim, clutter free, and sounds good and reliable. Shame that Savant bought the company, but still available from Redline in the UK. The Crestron module needs a licence key, free when we buy from Redline.

Re: Audio Taper
Human hearing might be logarithmic but your eyes are not. Moving the fader from 80 to 90% will result in dramatic volume change, that the fader movement does not represent.
If I was coding it for myself, I will absolutely leave it untouched. Good luck explaining to the average Joe's wife the dB scale...thus I strech all of them or disable touch settable.? |
Re: What is everyone using for IR with VC4?

If you have video distribution, many can send IR direct like Binary MoIP and AV Proedge.? Our sales team still prefer Samsung TVs where IP control is a pain, so we still do IR for that.??I have tested the Global Cache IP2IR and it works well.? When possible, we try to use IP controlled devices like Roku.? I have also tested making a processor secondary (slaving) and ESIC to VC4 and can confirm it works.? It comes down to designing around what is available.??

Re: Matter implementation for Crestron?
I'm not aware of any information at this time, other than?Crestron being a member. "Participant Members contribute to and develop standards they will later adopt and use. Participants can access Alliance Working Groups, are hands-on in developing specifications, and gain early access to draft specifications and testing, with opportunity to develop and get to market faster." |
Re: Audio Taper
Hi Folks,
human hearing uses logarithmic scale, therefore a logarithmic volume control should be used. The dB scale is logarithmic, therefore does the job well. However, if you want to adjust volume more precisely, you might want to stretch the volume control in the upper range, see the fader on professional mixing consoles like this one: I never thought about this before, will give it? try with the approach from Zac.
