Re: Sony VPL-VW695ES projector with RS-232 control

I've never been impressed with any Sony control but use the Crestron Connected module with VPL series and not had any long term issues.?

It could be the polling...

Hi,

i?m currently having issues with a GTZ380 and IP control at a client?s residence.

I was using the Sony VPL-VW1000 v1.0 successfully with the VW790 he had before, but with the new projector (exact same physical connection and switch port), connection seems to drop after some time and being unreliable in general.

So I dropped the module and went for using ADCP commands ¨C that seems to have fixed the issue: IP control is stable for a couple of weeks now.

?

Cheers,

Thorsten

[Edited Message Follows]

Hi All,
I have a site with this projector, controlled via RS-232 thru a DM-RMC-4KZ-100-C room box (50' from the rack). It's been installed for about a couple years...
Though I do not remember having this issue initially, for the last year, we have had a condition where after ~1-3 weeks, it will stop responding to commands and also the RX/feedback stops.

Sony support says that this is common when you have both RS-232 and IP connections simultaneously, which we did, though the IP connection was only for management and Domotz pinging...We noticed that Domotz would see a tremendous amount of network Up/Down states, and then often it would just go down and stay down...
Though I think the issue with having IP and Serial connections being a problem is bogus for a professional product, we have disconnected the IP connection.

Still we've seen the issue, and it requires a hard-boot to restore the serial communications...
Anyone else see this kind of behavior??? I have another site with a 715 that we have not seen this issue with....
FYI, I'm using the Sony VPL-VW1000 v1.0 serial module

TIA!

Second to that some switches have error threasholds crc wise and will disable a port, you could be triggering a storm control mechanism,?

A stretch, something flaky, turn poe off on the port if its not needed

Obviously we don't have the same 'Smart' issues with projectors, so maybe I'll need to go that way, which allows for domotz monitoring,,,

bi0drain (love the handle BTW!)
Not sure exactly what you're getting at. are you referring to the IP monitoring? even when I set the IP address to be reserved, we still saw issues with both IP and serial stability...?
My real concern is why would I have serial issues with no IP attached (assuming that Support is right about dual connections...:(? ?)

Re: Sony VPL-VW695ES projector with RS-232 control

Dare i ask if your flapping behavior happens autonegotiate synch wise something happening at the net level / forced link speed.

Some sort of interference based flapping.

I haven¡¯t seen this on my projector ( a 550es which is the same as American 675es) but I use IP only.?

Just curious why you use both rs232 and IP. ? For me the IP control has been rock solid with this projector. ? I mean 100% uptime for 2 plus years sort of rock solid. ? I get Al the feedback that I need via ip?

Just wondering what advantage rs232 has ?

Re: VC4 Room to Room Communication #vc4

For people searching this topic in the future, also verify you don't have Secure Only for connections.? If this is on you can't even get slot to slot connections to work.? Was setting up a new VM thinking something got installed wrong when I noticed this setting.

Re: Crestron DM-DA4-4K-C #crestron

ok, Thank you very much!!
It's been a long week and my brain is fried. Have a good Christmas

Re: Crestron DM-DA4-4K-C #crestron

Don't think you need to add it. Just add your rmc's under the Ethernet and then set your ip table on the rmc's. The DA just needs to be on the same vlan as your controller.

Thanks,
Ephrain

Does anyone know how to add a DM-DA4-4K-C to a Simpl program? It doesn't show up in the "Select a new device" window when I try to add it to my program. Tru Blu Support is closed today December 23rd for Christmas but I'm still working. The only reason I need it in my program is for RS-232 display control through the 4 DM-RMC-4KZ-100-C that are connected to it.

Nope, sorry! The archive has the old CLZ. I just posted the new (updated for NewtonSoft) CLZ in the files section. Search for 'SonyAVRWebAPILibrary.clz'
Put it and the S+ usp and ush files in your S+ library folder...

Re: ELK Alarm with 4 Series

It sounds like you need to enable the non-secure port in the panel.?

Re: HTTP Post Help with a TCP/IP Client CP3

I believe postman shows the http code you would send. Its a button on the right looks like <>.

You can also use notepad and putty to port 80 to send the same text.?

If you're building the string in Simpl or Simpl+ then \n is \r\n. If using C#, then you would need \r\n.

Your content looks like json so I'm not sure if the header Content-Type should be application/json

Re: Funky RS232 Simpl Bug #simpl

So what's the magic incantation that is breaking it?

On Thu, Dec 22, 2022 at 9:39 AM Sam <sam.orifici@...> wrote:
Hey all, just curious if anyone's seen this before.

I've had a really funky bug with Simpl recently where it either won't properly compile certain rs232 commands or it will just refuse to create them in the compiled project. For example, I have a new build using the always rock-solid Samsung 460 UTN module, but the compiled project doesn't compile the power on/off commands properly. I know this is the case because I can manually send the commands in debugger (and can see that identical commands are "being sent" by the system when they're supposed to) and I get the result I expect. I tried rebuilding the module itself and there's nothing wrong with it.

I've had this happen with a handful of modules/devices now (besides Samsung) where either a known working module or even placing the strings on the com port itself will seem to function properly in debugger, but no reaction from the device. In each case, running the same program, I can send an identical signal manually on that serial out and everything works as expected.

So far, the most unexplainable solution is placing a SIO in the root logic folder in Simpl and building the problem commands there. If the SIO is in a subfolder it doesn't like it, but root folder it usually sorts it. Tried recompiling and rebuilding programs too. I don't believe it's my machine, but I'm open to suggestions.?

Re: VC4 Room to Room Communication #vc4

Okay thanks, yeah I have it up in running. I guess it's just my OCD that's making me feel weird with this ...as you say "inconsistently enough" ...my brain is screaming at me to use a VC-4 EISC Server haha.
