Re: DM NVX creates a broadcast storm for ~2 minutes every ~ 30 minutes
I know this is a long shot, but I just had a weird case where a devices on another VLAN was using IGMP v3 with PIM protocol (at least that is what an internet search said it was).? The devices were ATT Uverse boxes.? Somehow it was screwing up the IGMP v2 snooping on my VLAN and it took the whole network down -- both ATT and my stuff.? I had IGMP snooping disable on the port with the ATT IPTV -- actually I tried all types of combination of switch settings.? Somehow, these IGMP v3 packets totally screw up switch.? The switch itself only did IGMP v1 or v2.? It did not support IGMP v3.? In my case, it was not essential that I did IGMP snooping on this switch.? Disabling IGMP snooping solved the problem and everything started working okay.? Probably a firmware bug in the switch I am using where if it sees any IGMP v3 packets, it bombs out.? The only reason I had to do this in the first place was because two rooms had just one CAT5e each and I needed to put an access point and a ATT Uverse box in those rooms.? The ATT Uverse boxes only had Ethernet going to them.

Re: DM NVX creates a broadcast storm for ~2 minutes every ~ 30 minutes
After looking through the wireshark I noticed a few more things.?
You mentioned different devices having different firmware, have you tested audio to make sure it is passing to all the endpoints? PTP is related to the AES67 audio stream.? Further down it looks like the storm is less of a storm and more of a problem with IGMP Snooping and Querier. The multicast packets should not be hitting your PC/laptop that is capturing the packets. To further help, are you willing to share the switch config? |
Re: DM NVX creates a broadcast storm for ~2 minutes every ~ 30 minutes
Can you verify the Group registrations are working?
The command should look something like "show ip igmp snooping groups" The output should show a group for each encoder and as the decoders subscribe to the stream, they will join a group.? Also wondering, does this still happen even when no routes are made? |
Parallels Folder Structure
Hi All,?
Just moved back to a MacBook Pro after using Dell for a few years. For anybody who's also using parallels could you enlighten me to your folder structure/layout? I use dropbox (on the Mac side) and have my modules & IR library stored within the dropbox. Unfortunately when trying to compile in SIMPL I get errors along the line of "cannot find module", its like SIMPL doesn't have access to the shared folders where the modules are stored? |
Re: Mechanical Hum in Crestron 16x60 Amplifier
My Crestron is in a fire rebuild house. The last six months has involved lots of house finishing and customization. I only accidentally was able to work on this problem yesterday, it being lower priority than other issues. (The "accident" was that I wanted to debug a start-up problem that I thought was due to my circuit for use without a controller. It turned out the Crestron had popped a 20 A breaker. So I need not have had the cover off, but while I did....)
I am happy to report, for the curiosity of Slip and Michael and possible future search users, on the solution. I tightened the bolts securing both transformers by 30 degrees each. The hum went from noticeable to not noticeable. FYI, in the 16x60 version of the Crestron, the bolts are horizontal, and thus could not have been touching the top. There was no evidence of mistaken repair. Both bolts seemed to have the same feel, or resistance to tightening. The transformers are held in place with a compliant (rubber?) disk and a metallic disk. I would think it would be easy to overtighten the bolt and distort the metal disk, so I am glad that a modest tightening was adequate. |
Re: Crestron Lighting (CLX) interfaces with DMX
Being in the VJ/ lighting community i dont understand why you cannot connect this as artnet over ip or use osc for triggers On Sun, Mar 13, 2022 at 4:51 AM Oliver Hall <oliver.hall@...> wrote: That product has both a DMX OUT for control and a DMX IN for receiving channel data (from your console). |

does video pass to the other endpoints that do not have matching firmware? it's always been my experience with NVX to match all firmware (annoying but keeps everything working better). A storm is most likely a bad registration or the switch not handling the registrations correctly. What IGMP version is configured on the switch and the NVX's? When the storm happens does it lock up everything? What else is on the VLAN with the NVX's? What processor and port are you using? |
Re: DM NVX creates a broadcast storm for ~2 minutes every ~ 30 minutes
Maybe The Storm is DLNA related or DLNA Device enumeration related. As are most storms, similar to the HP jetdirect issues back in the day. DM NVX creates a broadcast storm for ~2 minutes every ~ 30 minutes
This started bout 3 weeks ago in my Crestron Nome system.? ?I have posted a packet capture on OneDrive at this link:
All the traffic is originating from DM NVX 351C cards connected to the source devices.? The issue spans: Storm Start Packet : 17798
Storm End Packet : 20131298 The DM NVX 351Cs are at IP Addresses 192.168.57.161 - 192.168.57.166 The only two sources in use are 192.168.57.161 - DirecTV receiver, and 192.168.57.164 - Direct TV receiver. 192.168.57.163 is connected to a KScape Co-Star, but it is not in use .161 and .164 are running the very latest firmware and all of the rest are running one version behind the latest. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas or other information I can provide. Thx Bryan |

In looking at the demo program for the CG-DMX512, it *seems* that it is designed for Controlling DMX loads - i.e. Crestron processor is the master/controller.
In our setup Crestron (more specifically the CLX lighting loads) while operating independantly thru CBD KPDs for basic control, are to be a *Slave* to the Main lighting console/Master. The Console is the tell us what to do as an override to the basic programming... |
