Re: Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today

Sorry only cloud control without feedback.? However, there are discrete open/close commands which really works around many feedback issues.? Especially compared to tying a relay in parallel with a wall mounted garage controller that just toggles the door open/close.??

?I personally use a one of these? connected wirelessly to a non-alarm zone on an integrated security system to provide true feedback.? It is much more reliable?than worrying about whether a cloud service really knows what is going on and even provides feedback if the garage door is released from the opener and manually opened.

Unfortunately, you can only implement a module based on what the manufacturer provides in terms of an API.

Local or cloud control? I know you are not a fan so hoping it is local.?
However, from the brief skim of the ReadMe it looks like there is no feedback of the door status. Is that the case? I know MyQ has shut down previous attempts to provide fb (unless you subscribe to their service) so I will not be surprised.?

Re: SIMPL+ Compiler bug

Nice catch on the explanation -- I hadn't even thought of that (and clearly Crestron didn't either!).

Re: LG OLED 232

I think that is what we are going to have to do on this one.

CEC isn't an option with this one and I have had similar experience with IP not working 100% of the time on LG. ?I've done plenty of LG displays, both commercial and consumer, over 232 in the past, but it seems like the latest consumer model just isn't going to play nice.

Re: What brand of NVR do you sell?

I'm looking into a solution with Synology NAS and using the DS Cam app.? I had a co worker that highly recommended this setup.? Only downside I'm seeing is there are software licenses required per camera and of course, this is a consumer product so no profit margins.? But the app UX looks to be much better.

New HD-MD switchers

Is it just me or is the new line of HD-MD switchers priced exceptionally high...even for Crestron?

Re: LG OLED 232

So for what it¡¯s worth, we just did two of these exact displays and could never get the 232 to work. Tried everything including usb to 232 adapter. ?Never found a solution to keep the port awake. ?We then switched to IP control with WOL to power the display on...this worked pretty well 95% of the time. ?Once in a while the WOL would lock the display up and the only solution was to unplug power. ?Ended up discreetly mounting an IR LED in the cabinetry, ordered a naked high output LED. ?If I remember correctly the IR receiver on the TV is in a cosmetically bad spot and a standard bug looked terrible.

Re: LG OLED 232

I use RS232 to control my LG OLED65C8P. The connection has been rock solid for me. It's connected to Digi PortServer TS 8. I not think I had to make any special changes to the TV's default settings.
My only grief is that the TV does not properly send feedback via RS232.
I was never really successful controlling it via IP.

I think that you'd probably be more successful using a step-down from the 24VDC Cresnet through a relay than stepping up a 5VDC Versiport output.
The Versiport output is a very, very low current output.
I've had no problems using a step-down on the Cresnet.? You'll just have to use a relay instead.
I always use a diode on the transformer input just to protect the Crestron processor a bit more.

Which type of panel are you trying to emulate? I¡¯ve had it be very hit or miss (more miss than hit) for odd things like iPads (not surprised ¨C actually a little surprised it worked at all ever) but for normal panels like the TS1542/DGE/TXW-x60 I haven¡¯t had an issue. I think I¡¯m running latest VTP but I¡¯m also in the middle of a major project so not about to update ?

I have the same thing, just updated VT-ProE and now when I click the ¡®Run¡¯ it processes the file but doesn¡¯t run the XPanel emulator.

I did find that pressing ¡®Run¡¯ once or twice more will actually work. Just seemed to take a few presses before the XPanel will actually popup.

CEC should be an option if you¡¯re using something that can generate CEC.

not OLED but had this issue on some 75ul3e's. would work fine turning on/off when testing, then when left off overnight they would fail to turn back on. ended up being the firmware, which for some reason wouldnt load on site so had to go back to LG get to be done by them. now working fine.?

Re: Samsung CCD IP Driver

Until you have everything working, hook up the driver log output and the user attribute label and description outputs from the module so they can be viewed in SIMPL Debugger.? Those outputs will give you some good tips on what might be wrong and that info doesn't get written to the processor logs.? Until I forced values into the warmup and cooldown times, I had a driver log message indicating the times had to be set to something; the driver wouldn't even attempt to connect to the TV until they were set.

Re: Apple TV home button app

As discussed in the previous thread, Pressing and Holding the MENU command with the standard IR driver will bring the unit to the HOME screen.?
My experience is that even changing the settings to call the TV App does not work with P+H of the MENU button - Glorious inconsistency!!

Re: Samsung CCD IP Driver

I've got control of the 55TU700D, but Power ON is not working (go figure).? I'm using CCD 1.9 and have tried both 2.x & 4.x drivers.? I swear I did get the Power_Toggle to turn the TV on once with the 2.x Driver, but can't get it to do it again.? Perfectly useless control if I can't turn the stupid thing on.? I may as well be using discrete IR at this point.? Or more than likely I'll be returning it and getting into a higher spec display series.? Its also very frustrating that with this TV nor the Q70 offers a command to turn the TV to a smartapp nor does it offer good feedback about smartapp "input" status.

?

Mark, I've built this up as a simple program that does nothing but control the TV via Debugger if you'd like me to send you what I have, I can.? I did note in my logs when loading up my second version with Driver 2.x the log mentioned something like "control not acknowledged by the remote, will ask again".? Since I was in another room at the time I walked out to the TV and noted that I needed to click the allow IP control prompt.? On the TV under Network, expert settings I have "power on with mobile" and "IP remote" on/enabled.? I believe you said you had this on as well, just wanted to make sure.? Also at some point I realized I had the Driver path test with a Typo and for the record I call out the path the .PKG not the actual driver?\\USER\\FlatPanelDisplay_Samsung_QN43LS03TAFXZA-SmartTV_IP.pkg as a value in a Multiple Discrete Serial Send.
