Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
My latest article, "How to Know When Events Take Place in a Smart Home¡± is being published by the good folks at Residential Tech Today Magazine on their web site.? It is very important for a homeowner to be informed when their smart home processor / hub detects events taking place in their home.? This article looks at a number of smartphone?notification apps that can be integrated with various smart home systems.????
? Finally, for those that want to see even more content I've written about smart home technology you can find that here: ? ? Thanks ? |
Setting a Simpl# Array Size based on a constant in Simpl+?
I'm looking to create an array in Simpl# whose size is dependent on a constant in Simpl+.
With Simpl+, I can just have the constant be 10, for example, and then point inputs/outputs/arrays to that constant size, and recompile whenever I'd like to expand or contract the module. But attempting the same with Simpl#, I get errors. I tried to pass the value into the new array in the constructor, via function Main, but it didn't take. Is there a best practice for achieving this? Thank you |
Re: Biamp Control Subnet
Yes, forwarding Port 61415. However, this only works if you have a single DSP on the subnet. If you've got multiple?FORTEs or a SERVER and a FORTE, etc., the software will complain that it can't connect to all units and you won't be able to do anything. I asked Biamp about this a few months ago and the response I got at the time was that there was no way around this. We ended up replacing the pair of FORTEs with a single SERVER-IO at that site for this reason. DMPS3-4K-350 Web UI Not Responding
DMPS3-4K-350-C, f/w1.603.4257.16448. WebUI only populates with 'status' & 'settings' tabs. Allow xpanel connection is turned on. I downloaded 'Download xpanel DMPS setup' and 'install xpanel' from the Actions pull down. Installing/running xpanel only shows xpanel with a blue background with the dreaded 'System Is Loading' message. Any ideas on how to get to the configuration pages??

Re: Processor not recognising unchanged IP table.
In my recent experience with that message popping up, it is typically when you are dealing with their "ethernet control" devices like the NVX Director or CEN-IO-IR4, those kinds of devices.? It looks like they are the ones that the IP table is mapping to the sequential end of list.? i.e. If you have it at IP ID 35 it shows up after F0.
I haven't really bothered looking into corrections for it, its just a click for OK, but it does remove that security layer of loading a different project into a processor.? :eeps: -- Ryan Baldwin CEO | XS Design Studios rbaldwin@... 760.712.2240 |
Re: Issues with Sonos & Crestron
Sorry to keep beating a dead horse...
But is that it? ?Sonos just no longer works on an MC3? ?The thread has had no activity since the ¡®fix¡¯ was released. We¡¯ve literally done dozens of resi setups with an MC3 and Sonos. ? Are they all just ticking time bombs ready to blow up one at a time one a magic and unknown number of favorites is exceeded? ?Is Crestron going to put on their home page a big ¡®just kidding¡¯ banner for all the folks that bought into this? ?If its just me by all means let me know and I¡¯ll shut up but this really stinks in my book. |
Re: New Processor FW v1.603.0113
It's interesting that there's no mention of NVX in any of those

release notes about if you try to use an NVX director in the previous 1.603 firmware it screws up the IP table. I contacted tech support and they almost immediately told me to roll back to 1.601 because of a bug in the 1.603 firmware related to NVX directors and ip tables. Wonder if it's fixed. That's not a bug - it's a feature. On Tue, Oct 27, 2020 at 2:45 PM <payne.william@...> wrote: /setup page stops working |
Re: XPanel port 42872 workaround
Yes that trick works Phil, it's just an arse having to do it especially when you are on site and there's half a dozen contractors all bending your ear and you miss the opportunity.
Thing is this used to work years ago when SG XPanel first appeared and worked for a few years then something broke and that was that. Also when you are making small visual changes and you are having to re-load the XPanel each time. I've just tried the F11 shortcut and the IP address keeps defaulting to 192.168.1.103 even though the last IP I set was 10.2.102.11. |
Re: Lexicon MC-10
Not enough room for all the connections on the back?? Even for just a 7.1 channel processor, by the time you add the analog outputs and a small number of HDMI inputs / outputs, you would quickly run out of space. Re: XPanel port 42872 workaround
I concur. I have discovered that if you?go into the settings before it fully loads the file, it will have the last used settings (Address, port, and IPID) rather than resetting them. On Tue, Oct 27, 2020 at 10:37 AM Slip Cougan <gk.otoole@...> wrote: Not fully tested I see. |
