Re: DIN-CENCN-2(-POE) anyone used it? I'm not impressed!

Not sure what you are having problems.? What are you using to program the system:? D3PRO, SIMPL, or Crestron Home/Pyng/OS3?

Overall I have been pleased with the DIN-CENCN-2 however some of the advance features, such as going in and adjusting the dimmer curve of a CLX-dimmer does not work (at least at the time).? But full disclosure, I have only programmed them in SIMPL.? It was very easy to change the Cresnet ID.? Just drag and drop in the like any other device in configure view in SIMPL.

It has been a couple of years now I guess.? At the time, D3PRO did not yet support the DIN-DIN-CENCN-2 and well ... Crestron Home didn't even exist yet. In fact, Crestron said it the project was too big for D3PRO even without the DIN-CENCH-2.? Even if it was supported, I didn't really trust D3PRO to handle such large project given its quirks.

It that system, we had 4 of them and used them for all the keypads in the house (~80 keypads).? We used the DIN-CENCN-2 mainly to improve the response time for the keypads as keypads are fast poll devices and having them all on one Cresnet would probably be too sluggish.? Dimmer modules are slow poll devices so we put them all on the PRO3 Cresnet as speed wasn't essential.? But because of the number of Dimmer modules (something like 60), we used a DIN-HUB for the dimmer modules.

One of DIN-CENCN-2 was in the Cabana.? For fear of lightning damage and because the distance was something like 500ft., we used a pair of NVX-351s with fiber link to the Cabana TV and used the Ethernet from the NVX to get Ethernet to Cabana.? The Cabana had a couple of Dimmer modules too so they were were also on the same DIN-CENCN-2. That is how we discovered the the DIN-CENCN-2 did not support the advance settings in the CLX-dimmers.

All the other systems I have done where small enough were the DIN-CENCN-2 was not needed.

Legend.? Thanks for that.? I had seen that and tried but couldnt get it to work but I was just formatting my commands incorrectly.?

I stupidly assumed that you would be able to set ids like you normally would in toolbox.? ?

Thanks again.?

Simpl# / Simpl#Pro - Noob looking for guidance

Hi,

Looking for guidance, thoughts...

I'm thinking of rewriting the code for my Home Crestron System and in the process learn to use Simpl#Pro and OOP (I'm a C programmer but I've only dabbled in object oriented languages - so this might sharpen the saw).? I was looking at Simpl# Libraries but can't say I'm too wild about using Simpl+ as an intermediary between Simpl# and SimplWindows.? So I'd really like to be able to rewrite this primarily using Simpl#Pro and maybe some SimplWindows as necessary.? However, my home system has some older equipment that I don't think is in the object model; PAD8, CNAMPX-12x60s, C2N-TFM, CNX-B12 (I also have CT-1000s that I don't currently use - I mainly use iPads).? I do have EX Lighting and Thermostats that are part of the object model.? So given the older equipment, is there still some way to control this equipment from Simpl#Pro or am I relegated to Simpl# => Simpl+ => SimplWin? ??

Other Info:
MC3 Controller
I'm not currently using smart controls (I have custom graphics that I like, so want to continue old style for now).
Currently using Simpl+ to control a Synology Media Player and some other misc. functions.

Thanks,
Justin

Re: RS 232 to a ViewSonic projector from a 2 series serial port???

To add to the previous answer: if you have time it's worth making up a null modem cable with just TX, RX and Ground and keeping it in your bag, along with some basic gender changers using TX RX and ground only. I think it's also worth having a USB to serial adapter if your laptop doesnt have a serial port so you can check the commands are coming through as they should.

The 2-series DB9 pinout is non-standard and includes RS422 pins in places where a standard DB9 would have flow control pins; this can definitely confuse devices looking for DTR/DSR. If after only wiring 2/3/5 you can try also connecting RTS/CTS or shorting RTS to CTS and DTR to DSR on the projector end of things (pins 7/8 and 4/6 respectively)

See OLH 1634 for the exact pinouts on the Crestron side of things.

I'm using a off the shelf straight through cable that ohms out correctly (all 9 pins) and I can't get the projector to respond.? Same program from a ST-CP using a modular connector on one end (6P-6C but only 5 wires) and DB-9 and it responds perfectly.? Re: CH5 - Help - using Contract editor....... #crestron

It does make something like smart graphic extenders in Simpl.
That's mainly what it's for, using signal names in Simpl instead of join numbers

Edited

but isn't that the point of a template????? Yes i did it with just buttons and used the grid....it works..but i guess i don't understand what the contract editor is for then.? i thought it was to make like smart graphics extenders...

Hi Joe.

Just to be clear, are you referring to the RTSP stream generated by the TSW from its internal camera? If so, the I think you're correct that the audio from the TSW mic does not get embedded into the RTSP stream. However, this is not really relevant the the OP, since if an incoming RTSP stream to the EmbeddedVideo App object contains embedded audio, the TSW WILL decode it and if Media Mute is not active on the panel, you will hear it.

Re: CH5 - Help - using Contract editor....... #crestron

I wouldn't use a list for keypad buttons, you can't lay them out the way a keypad looks.
I've used Grid for mine, that works well as I can lay the keypad out the way I want it to look.

You can still use the signal names for the buttons, you just won't be able to template them.

Re: SIP Video Intercom to TSW-1050

Hi Rob

Simply add a "System 3 Reserved Joins" Device Extender to the TSW and use the System Media Mute and System Media Unmute inputs to mute when a SIP call is active and unmute (if you need to?) on?CallTerminated_fb (from the VOIP Reserved Joins).

The SIP audio does not get muted using System Media Mute.

Easier still, if you're not needing the Media Audio on the TSW for anything (most of mine are like this, Media Audio is not the same as Panel Audio), just enable Media Mute in the TSW settings (can be easily done remotely using the Web UI these days under the Settings tab -> Audio -> Media Mute) and so long as you're not then driving that System Media Unmute signal, it will stay muted forever.

Regards,
? ?Richard.

Re: SIP Video Intercom to TSW-1050

Thanks for the response Joe. ?I suspected that was the answer but have been unable to find a way to disable audio at the source. ?I'm using a Grandstream GDS3710 door station which doesn't seem to have that as an option.

It has been a minute since I've messed with CH5, but I think the index should just be listed as idx with no number.

IE,

<ch5-list class="source-list" indexId="idx" size="4" maxWidth="1000px" receiveStateSize="SourceList.NumberOfSources"
orientation="horizontal">
<template>
<div class="horizontal-list-item">

receivestateiconclass="SourceList.Sources[{{idx}}].IconClassOfSource" iconPosition="top"
receiveStateSelected="SourceList.Sources[{{idx}}].SourceIsSelected"
sendEventOnClick="SourceList.Sources[{{idx}}].SetSourceSelected"></ch5-button>
</div>
</template>
</ch5-list>

Re: Yamaha AVRs

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Well, a few days after writing that, i?ve got an issue with a customer who has recently replaced his CA-X5100 with a CA-X5200.

Auto feedback is not working anymore after a program update and it?s not responding to vol+ / vol-.

It works for one button press, but then no more.

I can issue request commands (power state, mute state, etc.) and I get a response.

I also issue a @SYS:MODELNAME=? frequently to keep the connection alive.

?

Any ideas where to look at?....

Have a look at the Yamaha (¡°it¡¯s fun to stay at the...¡±) YNCA protocol.

I think this is what the modules use, simple TCP client to port 50000. No messing about constructing HTTP GET headers as with MusicCast.

Re: Modifying part of a Serial String with an Analog Value #bestpractices #crestron #values

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Two DIVMODs (one to pull off the hundreds digit, the reminder from that one to get tens/units.

ASUM tens, hundreds, and units with 30h to convert the number to its ASCII equivalent (e.g. 30h = ASCII ¡®0¡¯, 35h = ASCII ¡®5¡¯, etc.

?

Those values go to your ATOS.

?

Instead of ASUMing with 30h you could use 3 ASCALELs instead (min in = 0d, mx in = 9d, min out = 30h, max out= 39h, format = 0d

?

If it¡¯s not frequently changing and you aren¡¯t worried about the performance penalty (or if it¡¯s critical that it¡¯s not 0-padded) S+ is easy but less elegant IMO

Subject: [crestron] Modifying part of a Serial String with an Analog Value #bestpractices #crestron #values

?

So here's what I'm looking to do.

I need to modify this part of a serial string (marked as bold):?

*1*31#VALUE#0*10##

The appropriate range is 1 to 100. So here's what I got (I'm using a slider/gauge to drive the change of the analog value):

That is modifying the serial string at the exact right place/position I want it, but is taking the 1 to 100 value and converting it to ASCII, so instead of putting a decimal value there, it's displaying different ASCII characters positioned 1 through 100 in the ASCII table:

What can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
