Re: Crestron centralized lighting control
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe CLX-2DIM8 will dim LED's but the driver has to support forward phase dimming. We use CLX-1DIM8's and TCP fixtures in our office, and they play fine. The CLX-2DIMU8 will play with more LEDs as it uses reverse phase dimming, which is compatible many more load types. The GLXX don't worry about as that is part of the protected commercial lighting line and you'll need to jump through a number of hoops that you wouldn't normally need to with normal Crestron product to get that product. Stay in the CLX line. Sent from my mobile. Please excuse brevity and any typos. I done (successfully) numerous decentralized Crestron lighting control systems but never a centralized.
I've been brought in to assess an older?installed system from another manufacturer that is centralized.? It has issues - dimming LED lighting is one of them.
I thought this would be reasonably obvious - swap out old dimming modules for new Crestron modules.? The existing system has 3x in wall panels with 4x dimming modules in each panel.?After looking at the Crestron module choices I'm a little confused.?
It appears the CLX-2DIM8 will not dim LED loads.? The GLXX-2DIM8 appears to be the choice but I can't fit four of these into the existing panels.
I need some education on this.? I'll talk to TB tomorrow but was hoping to go into the talk with a little more knowledge.
Please educate me.
Thanks.

Re: Cisco SX20 Questions
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI haven¡¯t looked at the pinouts lately, but the Camera DB9 on the MXP codecs could also provide power to a Tandberg camera. ? Wondering if someone connected oddly wired serial cable to the camera control port instead of the external control port (IIRC, they¡¯re right on top of each other) and that power was enough to make things very unhappy. ? I¡¯ve never had an issue with serial control of any Tandberg/Cisco CODEC and I have multiple clients with dozens of serially-controlled SX80s each. ? Lincoln ? From: Crestron@... Not sure if the SX20 uses the same RS-232 circuitry as the SX80 but, we had TWO CP3Ns go up in a ball of flame trying to control SX80s via 232. Sticking to Ethernet? for now.

Re: 2 way serial module won't catch rx string.
So, when you say "didn¡¯t bother with others¡± ?does that mean you did not test them or that they are not actually making any connection? ?Using a Crestron 9-pin COM port you must ensure the pins you are not using are not connected. ?In other words you must only have pins 2, 3, and 5. ?If other pins are connected, as in using a manufactured cable with all 9 conductors, there can be problems caused because pins 1, 4, 6 and 9 of the Crestron COM port do not conform to a standard 232 port. ?If nothing else, just use a small needle-nosed pliers and break the unused pins off the male end of the cable (or you can do like my favorite installer and cut the cable and splice together only 2, 3 and 5). Re: 2 way serial module won't catch rx string.
"The cable I am using is a crossover."
It's the same cable as when you test with your PC? "I tried to use serial gather to hold on strings in case it just pass through." If your intent is to hold on to the last sting (Which is what will be displayed when you launch debugger and sync signals) you wan an MSP.? Based on what you're describing, I don't think the gather is what you're interested in... Also, triple-check your com port settings on the symbol in SIMPL Windows.? Make sure your handshaking is set to "none" and not "RTS/CTS". ? - Chip |
Re: 2 way serial module won't catch rx string.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? Is the device supposed to reply when you send a command or do you have to query it for its status? If you short pins two and three together at the switch and send a command do you see it come back on the RX? On Jun 13, 2017, at 12:54 AM, kelvinjin@... [Crestron] <Crestron@...> wrote:

Thanks,
It transmitted the command. ?The switcher at the other end received the command and worked as I told it to do. But I need to know the status of the switcher, because the stupid toggled power button. ?I indeed caught the rx signal while I connected switcher with my PC. ?But I tried both AV2 and CP3, all failed to catch anything back. I have grabbed a ST-COM over ebay and hope to see if there is any luck by using that one. Kevin. |
Re: 2 way serial module won't catch rx string.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe program is sending commands which is why you see it in debugger. That doesn't mean your wiring is correct. If you want to see if the com port is actually transmitting, tie pin 2 to pin 3 and you should see what you sent come back on Rx in debugger. Don't worry about the gather until you actually see data coming back and you want to parse something. Sent from my mobile. Please excuse brevity and any typos. Re: Sonos Integration - hardly
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý+1 to Lode LS1!? Just doesn¡¯t have all the sources built in, but the control is spot on.? Our latest customers wanted all the sources over control though.? They are ok with favorites and they are ok with the app jump when pressing the SGMP Sonon icon, with the back arrow with Crestron in the top left corner.? Of course its not ideal, but they get it.? However, it is not ideal with in-wall iPads that are locked to the Crestron App only.? These are also not music-library-I-want-to-search clients, they still get something like a MMS or better. ? is nice too, we just have not done one.? But they did get Media Player CRPC ¡°approval¡±. ?So that is an option now as well, if the MMS isnt working. ? Agree with tech support, helpful from across the pond.? Talk to ?ed@... Re: AppleTV gen 4 IR issues
Thanks, All!
1. I was using the Crestron gen4 IR driver that has worked on other project 2. Couldn't (Wouldn't?) use CEC as it was just a one-room system ATV>AVR>TV We swapped the problem unit with another one from a different part of the house and It worked, so I think that it has something to do with the pairing as a couple of you suggested... Thanks again! Chris K |

Re: Panasonic Pro AV Control v1.1 from Application Market
I had similar issue a few weeks ago, with the Panasonic pro av control module. The way I had resolved it was to first comment the module out in the SIMPL windows, upload the file and restart the processor. Then add the same module again and delete the old and upload the the new compiled SIMPL windows program back to the processor to have the module working again. Hope this helps you out.?
