Re: OT: Stupid F'in Power Cords

Most of my dealers use the Middle Atlantic vertical rack power and the accompanying short cables.

There are a few schools of thought regarding liability on the "make (shorten) your own" power cords approach if anything goes wrong in a client's install and voiding the UL rating on the cable and the like. I haven't done it in my own rack not because I'm overly conservative [I tend to be] but because the NEMA 5-15P plugs that look halfway decent are way more than I want to pay to whack a couple feet off the cable.

Managing power in a rack is really the most difficult part. Does anyone else put new ends on the power cords or buy power cords of various short lengths for rack building?

Power bricks can go the heck... including Crestron power bricks like the one for the CEN-SW-POE5 and the POE supply for the DMPS. Couldn't they have just built that in?

Meh.

Yea we use various length power cords

+One Million on the DMPS Power Brick....There is plenty of space in those units for another power supply

Thanks guys - the consultant claims it should be an LG or Sharp but I have tried both (only at 9600 as described by their docs) to no avail. There is an FCC sticker on the top of the monitors that only have Tandberg badging and the back of the displays are locked up with more casing I can't get past. I am going to look into the HDMI CEC protocol when I get a chance.

IR for the displays are probably hidden behind the all-in-one's bezel and so are the power indicators so no real feedback. They are also quite silent so I can't even listen for power supply buzz.

If anyone has any other ideas please hit me. I'm all ears.

You should be able to tell by looking at the FCC sticker on the back of the display what it was before it was Ciscoised.

I have tried NEC, Panasonic, Sharp, and Pionner codes but no control. Best is I get a return string for \FF. So at least I know its responding. Has anyone worked with this kind of system? Are the displays normally controlled from the codec? I am confused.

TIA and apologize if this is a stupid question.

Re: Uninstall Studio

You could try the old school method of removal:
1) Delete all directories
2) Go through registry and delete any keys pointing to it

Not a pretty method, I admit, but if done carefully it can be effective.

Yeah, that sort of works, but adds a lot of suck to updating an old
project that uses the S+ flavor of text-append for movie synopses and
other loooong text.

The text append symbol -- it don't work!

Crestron Mobile Pro G - Slider Indirect Text

Has anyone else seen a problem with the indirect text on a gauge not updating properly. The text in the 'graphic' portion works, but the text in the 'indicator' portion does not update until the object is completely redrawn (ie. move to a new page, hide the subpage the slider exists on, etc.

For example, "Great Room" is present when the room select page is navigated to, user selects "Kitchen": "Great Room" is displayed by the portion covered with indicator, and "Kitchen appears" 'below' the indicator.

Re: Smart Graphics - Indirect Text

Nevermind....I think I see what is happening and found the answer just using CIP tags instead of using the indirect text join.

I really need to wrap my head around the new 'easier/faster/better/more' way of doing things.

I am guessing that the text is taking on the default font/color settings of the object's theme, but I am not sure.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Without creating a new theme and without sending formatted html font tags with every text update, is there a way to make the color/font size settings "remembered" so I can send plain text to the serial join?

Note: I have only so far been able to try this out on an Xpanel, so it could be a bug in Xpanel.

Re: Help for the Middle Atlantic Racklink SW215 - Problem Solved!

Hi again,

I have got both the RS-232 module and the IP module now working with the RackLink switch. Here are my tips:

1). The user name for the RS-232 and the IP versions needs to be "user" in the Crestron modules.

2). The Control Protocol RS-232 password and the Control Protocol TCP/IP password needs to be set in the RackLink Discovery utility and then matched in both modules.

3). Make sure you have the correct DNS server set in the ethernet settings of your controller device.

4). The single switched outlet on a SW215 RackLink is outlet # 2 in the module connections.

And for those newer users:

Place a TCP/IP client in your system configuration and give it the IP address of the RackLink. Put an entry with the same ID number as the TCP/IP client in the IP table of your controlling device and assign it the IP address of the RackLink as well.

You will know that it is all working when you access the RackLink product through the demo Xpanel and you see Part Number, Rating, IP Address and Mac Address populated on the "Status" page.

Many thanks as always for your generous guidance.

Sincerely,

-David

Re: Buffer Evaluation Question

I meant the buffer enable was being pulsed, with latched FB on an input propagating to an output.

Sorry I left out a few words in my reply.

My bad gentlemen, I will make sure to be more specific next time.

On a side noted, pulsed and latched are not interchangeable terms. Oulsed means activated for a set duration, latched mean once activated will stay active until you unlatch it. Saying pulsed with latched feedback doesn't make sense. :-)

--- In Crestron@..., "Sean" <seanzombie56@> wrote:

Nope my bad, the enable was being pulsed with latched FB.

Basically I was doing a combine rooms function, with laptop 1 FB latched, make room #2 match up with room #1. I got a little buffer happy and had laptop 2 FB in the same buffer, so the "match output" command that was tied to the two outputs in the same buffer never ran.

There were other buffers in the program that had the same outputs tied to multiple inputs that ran fine, but they had 1s instead of enables being pulsed.

I'm trying to edit an old program, trying to be nice and not yell at myself from two years ago for doing lazy programming. I should have just started over from scratch.

Sean

So in example 2 the buffer is behaving like an AND? I have never used a buffer for a latched signal without pulsing the enable or pulsing the input side of the buffer with enable latched.

I most likely didnt make myself clear in the question. I also may be asleep at the wheel, long day.

So I'm basically asking whats the difference between these two buffers:

Buffer 1:
Enable = 1

Input 1 = Press 1 -----------> Source_On
Input 2 = Press 2 -----------> Source_On

When either "Press" goes high, Source_on is triggered by either button press.

Buffer 2:
Enable = 1

Input 1 = Latched_FB1 -----------> Source_on
Input 2 = Latched FB2 -----------> Source_on

When only one of the "Latched_FB" inputs goes high, source_on is still low. Which is standard buffer behavior.

Whats the difference? I understand buffers get evaluated top down and then propogate, but why does buffer 1 work?

Sean

--- In Crestron@..., "martinkup90" <martin@> wrote:

For as long as an input is latched from FB, the output will be high, so if any other input goes high, the output will see no difference and stay like it was.

--- In Crestron@..., "Sean" <seanzombie56@> wrote:

I'm working on a room a programmed years back and started questioning my buffer usage.

Simple question:

A buffer with a 1 as the enable, and two inputs, both inputs are presses that propagate to two outputs with the same signal on them.

Only 1 input will go high at a time, but I havent run into any issues with the outputs not going high to to enable other things.

In my knowledge of buffers I would think they evaluate the entire buffer then propagate to the outputs, leaving them both low. In this case, the outputs go high when only one of the inputs go high. I noticed this doesnt work when the inputs of the buffer are latched FB.

What am I missing?
