Re: EISC between multiple programs vs. redundant logic in each?

I might challenge if it's even a benefit to run multiple programs at all if you're sharing logic between them anyway. There might be exceptions, but in general it's fairly useless to me.

I have a CP3 with programs running in 8 slots. Slots 1-3 are running programs to control the source equipment in the rack: Slot1 for DM and PAD8s, Slot2 for some media players, Slot3 for a pair of Biamps. Slots 4-8 are programs for individual rooms.

If I have signals that originate from Slot2, for example, and are sent to Slots4-8, is it more efficient to minimize the EISC traffic, even if it means some duplicate logic in the 5 program slots that contain the loom logic, or should I create a single instance of that logic in Slot2, even though it means more EISC traffic.

Obviously, it would depend on how much logic vs. how many EISC signals we are talking about, but I guess it's more of a theoretical question.

Re: NVS-200 audio issue

Hi, thanks for the reply. In the manual, the specs for the NVS say it can handle line-level or microphone, so it should be ok?

This is an updated module for those having trouble with the socket not disconnecting for the key commands. I just now disconnect the socket manually after every command.

Ugh, no, it's terrible. I used to open and close Toolbox on a regular basis as I needed it, now I leave it open simply to avoid the Splash screen.

Like I said, maybe I am doing something wrong, but if I am not I can't believe I am alone in my grumpiness¡.

The TCPIP client would be pointing at the IP and configured for port 80.

I am also concerned about authentication, how to inject a user/password into the string. I don't see any way in the 7701 to "allow anonymous" control, or disable passwords etc...

Any info would be helpful.

Good tip, I'll have to try that next time I run into the issue. However, it doesn't seem like these gold plated contacts should be getting funky like this, perhaps the DeoxIT is more of a bandaid...

Thanks guys. Makes sense

I just did a wireshark capture of an EISC between a CP3N and a QM-RMC.
The QM-RMC had 48 defined inputs (1-32,1001-1016); half set to zero,
half to one. The CP3N had 16 defined outputs (1-16).

I triggered an update request on the CP3N.

I captured 49 UDP packets each way . The first was the update request
packet from the CP3N, followed immediately by an ack. The QM-RMC then
sent 48 data packets, apparently waiting for an ack between.

Conclusion: All defined inputs are sent, regardless of value/state,
regardless of outputs on the other side.

Packed EISC will reduce the packet count, but likely won't change the
basic behavior.

If i understand: On the "genericly-named" remote end, where all of the signals are
defined, an update request will cause a slew of data to flow out, back to the main. On
the "main" end, where fewer signals are defined, the corresponding update-request will
generate less data towards the remote end.

I guess the question is simplest as: Do the undefined signals get transmitted, or only
the defined?

If, in the program broken away from the main program, I define an EISC with a ton of
generic signals (dig1, dig 2... 600 of each flavor maybe) and in the main program only use
the signals that are relevant, do I wind up with a mass of updating going on between
programs or does it only update those signals that are defined on the sending end?

I could potentially have many of these EISCs, but only heavily-loaded in the remote program.
