Re: Wifi Recommendation

Or did moving the WAPs to another room actually help the Ruckus, since it was then able to use beamforming to focus the radio energy in one general direction, towards all the devices, without worrying about 360 degree performance?

The video was interesting, but there is no way it wasn't biased. Ruckus WAPs were the only ones featured for product close-ups, and there was a huge Ruckus logo on the screen at the end.

I'm a Ruckus fan, but there was definitely some sort of sponsorship involved in that video.

Ruckus' beamforming feature isn't "fair" so they put the WAP in a different

reason to discount the feature. I would have like to see the test done
again but to put the WAP in the room and see what happens then (I'm
guessing Ruckus would blow them all out of the water, again).

These have been posted before but they're a great read if you're curious
about wifi performance and why not all WAPs are created equal.

Re: DMPS 300 output

I see 2 likely issues:

1: Projector does not like 1600x1200. The projector is simply not capable
of this. The manual will state the projectors capabilities.

2: Marginal wire. You have a wire that is barely good enough to pass
1080p, but not good enough to pass 1600x1200. Believe it or not, 1600x1200
requires much more bandwidth than 1080p and therefore is much more
sensitive to cable quality.

Re: DMPS 300 output

Does the projector state it can scan that high of a resolution? If not,you would need to use a scaling receiver like the scaler-c and set it to the projectors native resolution.

Philips 2K12 Ethernet Control

Hi,

We have a project coming up where the client would like to control 170 Philips 2K12 (22HFL4007D/10 - 42HFL4007D/10) TVs via Ethernet.

Has anyone done this or have access to a protocol? I believe it is possible as I have heard that Trippleplay IPTV software can control the TVs, just the protocol isn't published as far as i can find.

Re: Revisiting IDOCs and lightning

I must say that Airplay is great, but it doesn't always work. It will stop working for no apparent reason like weddellkw described.

At first it seemed to me like the Airplay was the "once for all" solution... now, not so much. Also, if people use their iPhones as a music source and start walking around the house, things might get disconnected (I would be fine with it, but customers would not...)

Does any of you guys have extensively rolled out airplay solutions and never got a call?

Fabio

Not to hijack the thread, but is anyone using AirPlay extensively? I have a few customers who use it via AppleTV, and chose to forego dedicated docks, but sometimes AirPlay devices don't show up as available, necessitating a WiFi on/off cycle (on the iPhone/etc)...or a phone call to me.

Crestron at one time mentioned (in-wall) docks for the iPad mini, but I haven't seen anything regarding Lightning or new form-factor's in a while.

*Crazy wish list Idea*
With Simpl# / SimplPro coming online in the future, is there any possibility of utilizing the stereo-outs on the MC3 for things like a Pandora client, AirPlay client, etc?

It's been several months since the lightning iThingies have come out. I know there are various adapters available. Does anyone have any good/bad experience to share regarding IDOCs (wall mount) and adapters? I have several in the queue and need to decide how to proceed.

My limited experience: I stuck a client's iPhone 5 on the small non-cable lightning adapter, and managed to make it "fit" in the IDOC, but it was bent and sticking out. Not a great "look" not to mention the stress that may have been put on the various connections.

Re: H.264 stream from Axis cameras to TSW750

Eric Williams

There is a thread a while back about this. You need to look at the cameras API and set the URL to request the stream from the camera at the size and frame rate you want. Axis has alot of documentation on their dealer portal.

Has anyone been successful viewing H.264 streaming video directly from
an Axis camera to the TSW750? In theory, the 750 is supposed to support
H.264, but there is no documentation other than to the NVS200. I
believe it should be doable or Crestron couldn't make the claim

If anyone has any insight, please let me know what it is.

Works fine and you can tweak it with the procise tool. It will just flash the warning on the screen that you haven't calibrated it and to contact your dealer until you do.

Re: Wifi Recommendation

Mark Conde

PS: Have Ubiquiti on a Vessel with 5 AP's and the manager software running on a PC, 4 of the AP's were on channel 6 my IT Guy informed me and the last AP on channel 1. The managing Software have the AP's fighting each other?

After changing the AP's to manual settings and changing the RF Channels along with some tweaks, the WiFi improved considerably, never the less the audio and video is often lost when streaming content to an Apple TV while walking between AP's from a mobil device.

Needless to say is coming out this week, we are putting in Ruckus with a Zone Director.

I am not trying to convince you of anything, I couldn't care less which way you go, I just want to share my experience after spending a lot of time researching an answer to this very same question.

To my Company the choice is clear, in any event continue your research and good luck to you, I hope you find what you are looking for.

Cheers!
