How AreYou Doing Commercial Templates or Frameworks

I've always struggled with my commercial templates as each system seems to vary drastically. Resi frameworks are simple. I have 90% of my program written before I even start using A/V, lighting, secirity and HVAC crosspoints.
I've tried using similar methods for commercial projects however every other project has a significant variation such as divisible modes, reinforced audio along with audio conferencing, Capture devices, Video Conferencing with 3 displays, video walls etc.
How do you deal with commercial frameworks and UI standards? Do you take the closest program you have and cut & paste or use multiple templates?

Re: New LAN issue has me stumped....

That looks like it might be a speed/duplex issue. If the switch port is
hard coded for a specific speed like 1000/full duplex and your hardware
only supports 100/full it will act like that.

This looks like the device/port that your processor is connected to is going on/offline. What is your infrastructure?

cresnet 20zone/ 20 scene module

wes_lim88

i use the cresnet 20 zone/ 20 scene to save scenes and presets. i've used them in several rooms already with touch screens. however there's one room where it can't save an analog output coming from the dimmer. all the other group of lights are saved except for this one, which i also included in the lights that should be saved in the scenes.

any ideas what could i have missed out?

First, download the Sony BDP Ethernet module from the modules section here on the Crestron group. Then, modify the simpl+ file to include the 790. If you want it, I can send you the modified Simpl+ module that includes the 790. Simple modification to the origional file.

Second, set up a UDP/IP port using 12287d as the port.

Third, tie it to a WOL with Pinglogic symbol (in the Simpl Windows database) and use this to power the unit on.

From there, the commands included in the Sony BDP Ethernet module will work.

Re: Number of button presses - is this still relevant

I absolutely agree less clicks/presses is better.

Clients now use touch devices daily, so they are used to them. But 95% of them are subpar. The reason is anyone can distribute apps and most that do have absolutely no UI/UX experience or training or background. So our clients become more accustomed to bad design.

I literally left my last employer because they had no clue when it came to UI/UX and I was embarrassed to be a part of it. They did/and are still doing great because they have a great sales team...but no client retention. They have clients that seldom used features because they were confusing. Maybe just one press away from being easy. It was sad to see some of the coolest features of a brand new system get tossed by the wayside after a few months because of the UX was confusing.

The entire system and design, and wiring comes down to the User Experience. My new approach is that if a user needs training, then the project is unsuccessful. (inject stupid customer comment here)

BelCanto DAC Serial control?

Hi Group,
Has anyone successfully controlled a BelCanto DAC (in this case the 3.5vb) using RS-232? If so, can you please share any helpful hints; pin-out, baud rate, command examples etc.? I am using the BelCanto-supplied protocol documentation and cannot get the device to respond in any fashion. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

ST-CS for Runtime Logging?

Pat

HI,

I've got a 1/2-Hp sewage ejector pump that I'd like to monitor for runtime - to see how often it runs during the month, etc. I plan on using a ST-CS (extra unit I have laying around) - and I was wondering if anyone has ever done any logic or programming for this type of event.

Any modules or way to use NVRAM to retain data if power fails?

If I have to create this, it might be a good thing to have for sump pumps, etc - I will post my finished results for the group.

Thank you for any help!
Pat.

Re: TPS 6X page flips

I have a job with 2 TPS-6x's and two in-wall DS's. Everything has been good up till I added another source to the processor, DMPS-300. The issue has to deal with the page flips on the 6X only. After I reboot the system, both panels keep flipping between two to three different pages. I just tried to turn off the page join transmit in both panels. Finger crossed.

if it's flipping to a specific page in your project, then is it maybe the pagejointransmit or pagejoinxmit (different for different panels). Turn that off?

Multi-Display switching help

Christopher

I have a project where we have 4 displays. 3 Small displays above 1 large display. Each display has it's own cable box. (4 boxes)

The customer would like to be able to swap display 1 and 4 or 2 and 4 or 3 and 4.

I have the swap working by using the logic from the video in this post

but I'm having the following problem If I swap 1 and 4, where display 1 is showing cable box 4 and display 4 is showing cable box 1 and I press swap 2 and 4, display 2 will now show cable box 1 and display 4 will show cable box 2.

I need to figure out a way where I can have the displays default back to their own cable box when I make a swap.

Hopefully someone has some ideas for me.

Thanks for the help.

Chris
