Re: Quick and dirty. Make a Pro2 with C2enet-2 card communicate with a TPS-6000 with ethernet card

All fixed.? Never start something you're not absolutely comfortable with, Take a lunch break with a couple of beers and then try to pick up where you left off.? I was struggling big time with a bad serial cable but did manage to log into the TP through console and in "ADDMASTER" set the IP ID to 05.? After lunch I added the panel to the program at IP ID 03.? I can't tell you how many times I looked at this and didn't see it.? Now I have to eat crow for doing something so stupid

Quick and dirty. Make a Pro2 with C2enet-2 card communicate with a TPS-6000 with ethernet card

Never had the need to even try this before, but now I do and it's kicking my butt.? I have both spares on my desk.? I have never used LAN B before or the ethernet connection on the TPS-6000.? Got off on the wrong foot trying to connect to the TPS via console because I had a bad RJ-11>DB-9 serial cable.? Got passed that but doing something stupid wrong.? Have LAN A set up and can see everything that way also through direct serial connection to the processor.? Not one with IP and LAN B is kicking my butt.? When I look at it in Viewport and open Ethernet Configuration, I can see LAN A and B but in Toolbox, I only see LAN A.? I'm pulling my hair out trying to make these two talk on my desk.

Thanks for this info. I didn't know there was a Bacnet scanner. This info is just what I needed.

Re: Topics in Home Automation - One Hundredth Blog Post!

Hi Marc,

Sorry for the second email. ?I'm on the road today bouncing through multiple airports. ?One other monitor you might want to check out, that I just became aware of from another reader of my blog, is the Laser Egg 2 + by Kaiterra (). ?I haven't been able to investigate these at all yet except for a very brief glance at their web site. ?The laser egg 2 + uses a laser particle counter to measure PM2.5; which is a much more accurate sensor then those used by foobot and Awair. ?However, it doesn't detect CO2 and I believe that the only connectivity available is to Homekit. ?I have to dig into it in more detail and may do a follow-up to my recent post/article.

For me, the perfect solution is one that has a laser detector for PM2.5, includes both VOC and CO2 detector, and has an API that can be used to integrate it with a Crestron processor. ?Unfortunately, I haven't found this device to exist yet. ?So, choosing an IAQ monitor for yourself requires going back to prioritizing what features you really want since IMHO the perfect detector doesn't exist yet.

Glad your're enjoying the blog.

Thanks

Jay

Hi Marc

If you don¡¯t need Radon then it comes down to the Awair or the foobot. The trade off between the 2 is that the foobot doesn¡¯t really do CO2 but I have a free Crestron module on my GitHub so you can integrate it into a Crestron system. The Awair does CO2 but requires oauth2 so I wasn¡¯t able to write a module to directly integrate it. You can use ifttt. It just depends on your requirements as to which will work better for you

Hope this helps?

Jay

Hi there?wckunk4frav66lpremxmt3anvr3mixl5qk3xghgi

It's not 100% possible to say - it needs to marry up with the actual device.

It's more likely to be an AV, but absoilutely no guarantees.? You need to check the manufacturer of the heater and/or get yourself a BACnet scanner such as YABE (it's free).

Hope that helps you out and best of luck?wckunk4frav66lpremxmt3anvr3mixl5qk3xghgi

Re: Is it possible to send a trigger to IFTTT

Re: Question: Can SIMPL+ deal with not-round/exact (with a decimal point) numbers?

Jeremy, you're right.? I think my morning coffee hadn't kicked in yet, and I haven't used Mod in ages.? It's the whole number remainder left over after division, not the decimal representation.? Similar to elementary math "remainders".? Good catching that.?? You can't get the decimal representation of the remainder still.

So from the original example:
240 Mod 300 = 240 still (this doesn't help you much).

Re: Is it possible to send a trigger to IFTTT

Hi,

I am trying to use your "IFTTT 2 Series v1.1" module with my series 2 processors. I am able to get a message from my Applet, but I can't trigger an event from my DMPS-300 or my PRO2.

My Applet works just fine, I have tested it from the URL and also from windows command line. But when I try to do that with Crestron it doens't work.?

My URL is like this (I am omitting the end of it):

and when I access it I get the key that is:

I configured this key on the first parameter of the module. I also have oppened the port?9693 on my router to my DMPS and configured the same port for the second parameter of the module.

The event name I am sending from the module is the same as the event name on my Applet.

I also tryied using the key like this:
""

The only parameter I didn't configure was the Server IP Address. How should I configure this parameter?

Are you sure I am able to trigger an event using a series 2 processor?

Re: Q-SYS Crestron modules v4.21

I have done many many Qsys jobs and have had several problems with the 4.21 modules.?
Here are some of the solutions that have helped me

#1- Create a User and Pin in Qsys Administrator and put these values in the core module. Don't try and use the default values.
#2- make sure nothing is trying to change any values until the program is fully booted up and ALL modules have registered/initialized. For large programs this could take several minutes. This includes someone pressing volume up/down on the touch panel.?
#3- try deleting named controls and re adding them

Re: Question: Can SIMPL+ deal with not-round/exact (with a decimal point) numbers?

That's not how modulo works...

First Time Bacnet Help

So, I have read through all of the Crestron provided documentation about Bacnet programming but I still have a few questions. I'm hoping someone would be kind enough to help clarify some things.

I have a CP3 and need to control 16 patio heaters over Bacnet. The heaters have full sweep/dim control from 0%-100%

I'm assuming all heater devices get added to "Remote Bacnet Devices" Slot2.
Does each remote device need a "Remote Analog Output Object' or is it "Remote Analog Value" Object?

Thanks for any help

Re: Question: Can SIMPL+ deal with not-round/exact (with a decimal point) numbers?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Minor nitpick but I can¡¯t help myself: By pre-multiplying you still don¡¯t have access to floating point ¨C it¡¯s essentially fixed point in that by multiplying by 100 the implied decimal is always 2 digits from the right end of the number; it will never be 3 or 1 or ¡

?

For the OP the keyword that explains the behavior you¡¯re seeing in SIMPL is _integer_ an integer is a ¡°whole number, not a fraction¡± and with integer math any fraction is truncated and not rounded, e.g. if you were to cast 2.5+3.2 to an integer you might think the result would be 6 since logically 5.7 would be rounded up. However, since the fraction is truncated the result would be 5. Same thing with the example you posted ¨C since 0.8 truncates to 0 that¡¯s the result. As Neil mentioned, by multiplying before you try to do the division you avoid the truncation (or at least can control the point at which truncation occurs)

?

In SIMPL# (and virtually all of the other mature languages) you have access to other non-integral numeric types like floats, doubles, and decimals but such is not the case in SIMPL+

?

(To see just how many other types there are in the wild world, for example, take a look at )

The term you're looking for is floating point (decimal/fractional) numbers.? And no, S+ cannot natively do floating point math.? However, unless you're dealing with very large numbers that exceed the capacity of a long_integer (32-bit or 4,294,967,295) then you can do math on floating point values in S+ by just temporarily shifting the decimal before performing a math operation that would result in a possible fractional value and then shifting it back afterwards.

?

As far as output, depending on what you need to do with the resulting values of the calculations, you'll need to either split the whole number and the fractional number of the value as two separate analog outputs to the module, or output it as a string.? That depends entirely on your use case and what needs to happen with that value after (or if ) it leave your S+ module.

?

In your example code snippet, you need to multiply by 100 BEFORE you attempt to divide:

?

{

integer test;

integer test2, test2whole, test2remainder;

?

test = (100 * 240) / 300;? // results in 80 ( or .80 * 100)

?

// test will == 80? You'll need to track how you're moving the decimal to know how to handle the resulting values

// In this case we've shifted the decimal two places by multiplying by 100, which means that the resulting value of 80 would be the fractional portion of the result.??

?

?

// Example of how to handle a calculation that results in a value with both a whole integer and fractional portion

test2 = (100 * 255) / 30;? // results in 850 (or 8.5 * 100)

test2whole = test2? / 100;? ?// results in 8 (or the whole number of 8.5)

test2remainder = test2 MOD 100;? // results in 50 (or the fractional value of 8.5).? Important to be aware the trailing zeros are irrelevant when dealing with fractional values so this would be treated as 5

}

?

On Thu, May 9, 2019 at 11:58 AM lucasway89@... [Crestron] <Crestron@...> wrote:

Is SIMPL+ actually capable of handling non-round/exact numbers? Particularly when it comes to arithmetic.

Very basic example:

{
integer test, test2;
?
test = (240/300);
test2 = (240/300) * 100;
?
trace("%u", test);
trace("%u", test2);
}

So 'test' should trace 0.8, and 'test2' should trace 80, and yet both just trace 0.

I've tried this with signed and unsigned arithmetic, but the numbers aren't negative so signed shouldn't be required right?

Am I missing something?

Re: Sonos Connect unable to access Library through Crestron Module

Yes, that?s really a huge disappointment three years after the partnering anouncement...

Still just some very basic functionality with SIMPL, if you want to really use your Sonos system with Crestron, you need to have the latest x60-panels with the app running. That?s not what i would call "integration" - switching apps to control different components of a system. And even that is not a great user exp since - at least to my knowledge - it?s not even possible to localize the app to your local language.

That's what you get. Basically a set of 'Radio' presets that can be recalled.

With Albums, user/custom playlists you should also get the ability to set repeat+shuffle, in addition to the skip track, but anything more and you have to launch into the SONOS app.

Yay! Digital music!!? It's such an awesome user experience!!...:(
