I realised that I was running into the issue of console comments not always showing up in debugger in toolbox. ? My methods were printing to a remote console via ssh just fine. ?
it¡¯s so weird how debugger will just do that sometimes. ?
ah well.? |
Re: HR-310s battery corrosion
We had an issue with HR-310s draining batteries about 3 years ago before Crestron came up with a firmware update for the HR-310 that corrected the issue.? So I would make sure that you have the latest firmware in the HR-310.
?
If I remember correctly, it was something with the processor preventing the remote from going to sleep.? So there may be some type of RF interference or issue in your program that is causing similar issues if the firmware is up to date.? You might look and the processor's and remote's error logs to see there are any clues on what is happening. |
Re: Intercom recommendations - Not 2N or Doorbird
I didn't know they were providing solutions for 2N now, but that's awesome.

I've been using their custom plates and gadgets since the 90s, back when they were called HoloSound (not Vision). ? --- On Monday, April 21, 2025 at 7:58 AM, MQSACK wrote: |

No, but you can do that in SIMPL+ using IsSignalDefined(). On Mon, Apr 21, 2025 at 1:15?PM CDUB340 via <cwiseley=[email protected]> wrote:

Tracking active lobe in Shure MXA910 and MXA920
I searched this forum and couldn't find any info; forgive me if I missed it.
?
We have used audio levels to trigger camera presets many times. Of course, discreet mics work pretty well for this, ceiling mics not so well. The Shure MXA mics seem to have the potential to make this simple, but I haven't found the secret yet. Viewing the lobes in Shure Designer, I can see that the correct/expected lobe is activated immediately - it appears to be flawless. But Shure's command strings don't offer a simple Get Beam Activated. Instead, they offer "Get X-Axis Beam Steering, Get Y-Axis, and Get Beam Height (Z-Axis), all measured in centimeters from the mic. I don't need, and can't use, this extreme level of detail and the resultant flood of signals to parse. Extron offers a way to pre-define a 3-dimensional cube by defining the X, Y, and Z coordinates of its imaginary diagonal corners in a space, and then notify me when the X, Y, Z coordinates being reported fall within a defined cube. This is a tedious and sometimes confusing process, but it seems to work. However, even then, I only get a notice that a zone has been activated; it does not report that the activation has ceased - which is a critical piece of information.
?
It seems to me, though, that this requires me to re-invent the wheel, when that parsing and comparing of data points is clearly already happening within either the mic itself or the Shure Designer software, because I see the lobes firing (or highlighting) accurately in the software. It seems that when I drag a lobe to a specific coverage area, that is graphically defining the 3-dimensional space, and Shure is already calculating which lobe a given audio source falls in. Why not simply make that info available via command string? i.e. is a lobe active?... which one?

Will someone please show me what a dolt I am, or possibly point me to a module or other useful solution? |
Doorbell C4 Chime Integrate or replace? Crestron Home
I am in the process of replacing some older Control 4 systems with Crestron Home using the CP4-R processsor and other goodies as required. One stumbling block is a few of these clients have the Control 4 video chime doorbell installed and the clients do not want to lose the integration with the distributed audio system as far as ducking and ringing through the audio distribution matrix. Does anyone out there have a recommendation on how to integrate the chime doorbell with Crestron Home and DM-NAX? If not, is there a replacement chime doorbell from another vendor that would? Thanks in advance. |
SIMPL Module Input Signals
Is there any way inside a SIMPL module to know if any of it's input signals are connected in the root program? For example I have a module with 10 input signals and 10 output feedback signals. I want all of the feedback signals to go high at the same time but only for the signals that have connected inputs. Is this possible? |
CrestronConsole.Printline
#programming
#simplsharp
I have a weird situation where one method in a simpl# module won¡¯t write to the console.?
for argument sake.?
Public string test()
{
? ?CrestronConsole.PrintLine(¡°Hello World¡±);
? ?Return (¡°Success");
}
I know that the method is being successfully called from simpl+ because it returns the string and that is seen by simpl+. But the Hello World doesn¡¯t show in toolbox. ?
the strange thing is that every other method in the simpl# code will show message when printed to the console. ?

Re: DM-NVX-360 - USB Routing (NUX)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat's what the documentation says, but in my experience with one touchscreen and two displays only the "wrong" display was selectable?

You can assign the Touch Display to whatever display you want.

Re: DM-NVX-360 - USB Routing (NUX)
Thank you for the information, Lincoln. It sounds like you have already experienced the exact problem I am having before.?
?
The ViewSonic touch screen we have is only able to control the computers main display as of right now. The client refuses to make the "NVX Display" if you will the main display for security reasons, so unfortunately there isn't a whole lot that I can do. I have one more trick up my sleeve and am going to try mapping the display in windows settings as a touch screen, but I am skeptical that this is going to work the way I need it too.

Re: Intercom recommendations - Not 2N or Doorbird
IMO, it costs what it costs to have a good thing that works right ght and does all the stuff reliably.
?
We do access control and Home on every job, and for the money, nothing is better than the 2n. When you get under the hood it is a really powerful device... Probably more than needed, so and I'm sure most of the cost goes towards their software.?
?
If you want to mess with the holovision/Rava setup ckangis mentioned, I have a "gently used" one we replaced with 2n and can send it your way it for pennies on the dollar. I also have a Barix, same deal for Rava support but you basically assemble the mic speaker camera and lock control from whatever components you want to use. Fun, if you're into that sort of thing. Not easy though, and if time is money, you'll probably wind up coming back to 2n at some point.? |
Re: DM-NVX-360 - USB Routing (NUX)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýTechnically, IIRC, it¡¯s USB3 that doesn¡¯t work¡ If you have a USB C connection that you can force to USB 2 (a lot of cheap ¡°charging¡± cables) will work ¨C I¡¯ve had a few projects solve this ¡°definitively¡± by using a USB-C to A Female and a USB C to A Male cables permanently connected together¡ ? But this limitation is not well documented nor do I understand why the USB controller in the NVX endpoint is trying to negotiate USB3 if the device doesn¡¯t support USB3. ? I have slowly started to build up an NVX stockpile for my house (looking forward to eventually replacing the DM chassis with it¡ really on the lookout for a couple DMF-CI-8 with encoders at a my-cheap-alter-ego acceptable price point and once I do that I definitely want to play with USB because I¡¯ve definitely noticed quirks in NVX land that I can¡¯t really take client time to chase down. ? Windows touchscreen support, completely independent of NVX leaves much to be desired so your other problem is likely a Windows issue (on my home PC I tried using a Viewsonic touchscreen I got cheaply as a 2nd monitor, directly connected to the PC and Windows 11 would not let me map the touch input to anything other than Display 1 no matter what I tried¡and I didn¡¯t want to make the touchscreen my primary display for various reasons ? ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby Commercial Market Director ? ? ? We also found out that the USB routing is working fine, the problem is that the touch screen display will only control the display that the computer has set to "Make this my main display" in windows settings. I discussed this limitation with them and they can't have our NVX system being their main display, so currently i am trying to find a work around for that. I'm not sure if it's a limitation in windows or if it's the touch screen itself. Kind of silly if you ask me. -- Stephen H |
Re: Intercom recommendations - Not 2N or Doorbird
The DoorBird works 'OK'. the camera isn't the greatest though. ControlWorks has an integration for it.
I think that there's still some limitation for the Camera and/or ICM connected to more than TSW device at a time...
?
HoloVision (eHoloVision.com) has an interface called VIO2 that I have used in the past, that works with RAVA. The also include an IP camera that is also 'OK' and will work with video to TSWs, GO, NVRs etc.
The one downside is (I think) there's no dedicated app like the other devices that are available.
?
Akuvox looks interesting. They list Crestron as a 'Technology Partner' but not modules or integration info that I could find in a quick search.
Also, the Website doesn't list any US phone #'s. That's kind of an issue for me...
