SIP Intercom recommendations
The Grandstream GVX3500 for my front entrance intercom has decided to retire by itself. No amount of fiddling will change its mind.
I'm looking for a replacement recommendation.? I have a doorbell button that I'd like to keep, and a composite video camera that I'm happy to replace. I'm looking for a modern alternative with the following: * Camera support. The GVX allowed me to connect a composite camera which provided enough resolution, but an external IP camera would be fine. I don't want a built-in camera. * Digital I/O's for the doorbell and contact closure to a DIN-AP3 to trigger events in the program. * Full duplex SIP to integrate into my FreePBX. I don't want any keypads, in fact I don't want any form of 'box' outside. The GVX sat in a service hatch in my front porch out of sight. Only thing a visitor sees at my front door is the doorbell button and the camera if they look up. Thanks -s |
Controlling displays in a Just Add Power System
Good Morning All,
I'm programming a J.A.P. system with VBS-HDIP-508POE endpoints with RS232 connected to a display.? The Crestron Module I downloaded from their website for use with their AMP configuration software, has a module for video matrix switching but nothing for controlling the displays from the endpoints.? The documentation says, "For Endpoint Control or Feature Control, create a generic telnet driver, set the IP address to the Receiver or Transmitter you want to control, and follow the directions for the desired control feature".? That tells me to use the TPC/IP client module with the endpoint's IP address and port number, and connect my control module for control of the display.? Is that all?? Are there any settings in the endpoint's GUI for control of the display? |
Re: Bond Bridge
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI think you were writing this to me John as I believe I have
spoken to drew in the past about my module for Prowl integration.?
I do now have a Bond Bridge Pro.? I don't use it in my own home
but the folks at Bond were nice enough to send it to me so I could
test my modules and the additional work I was doing to support the
use of their Sidekick keypads in a Crestron system.? Thanks Jay On 7/25/2023 4:11 PM, John Gabler

Re: CP3 Ethernet Issues
Had a similar issue.? In my case, my client would reboot the network to resolve and we wouldn't have any switch logs to review.? Once I got to it before he was able to reboot, the switch log showed that a WATTBOX connection kept going up and down and was flooding the network with traffic.? Once the flood started the WATCHDOG would shut down the ethernet port on my CP3.

Re: CRESTRON CONSTRUCT first impressions
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe obvious choice is an iPad in a launch port case. The TST is ridiculously over priced if you ask me, in the UK at least, at more that triple an iPad solution.I think Construct has the ability to replace VTPro in some use cases, mainly commercial with many important resi essential features still to come. Re: CRESTRON CONSTRUCT first impressions
With the TST-902's being discontinued, it appears that the TST-1080 is the only replacement??(TST-1080 cannot do smart graphics).
I was hoping that there would be more overlapping time between the phasing out of smart-graphics and gradual phase-in of Construct, a tool that cannot *yet* be a one-to-one replacement for VTPro ( or can it?)
?
We have a project with several TSW-1070's and a single TST-1080.? We wanted to stick to smartgraphics for the time being, but the fact that the TST-1080 can only do HTML throws a big wrench at the whole thing.??
Are there any alternatives for a wireless touchpanel that can still do Smart Graphics? |
Re: Shelly button press
Yes, configuring the I/O URL Actions are generally required on all Shelly devices for feedback to work properly in the modules. Thanks Jay On Tue, Jul 25, 2023 at 6:43 AM jbeir <jeffrey@...> wrote:

Re: DSC Neo Integration issues
We have worked with many different panels over the years, and the general findings vary greatly on functionality, particularly on the sector the alarm panel has been created/intended from (ie bank sector, large commercial, residential etc).? Our general go to panel in more recent years is the Elk, as Jay has mentioned though no real keypad access from Crestron.? I personally don't see this as a hurdle, as you can do most functions without it, and basically if a password is required that will need to be entered before hand. The communication protocol is available and quite extensive.? Just requires more effort to make a seamless system for the homeowner.
I am just in the middle of a job where the security company has changed the panel from a Concept to a Elk.? However the client still wants it to work the way the Concept worked ie multiple arming functions etc.? Part of the head hitting the wall to how people are resistant to change, requires delicate conversations and? preferably discussions upfront as to expectations on how it will work, and could be easier etc...We have managed to get it to work in the way they want, however utilised all the areas in the panels, and many rules, and function keys to achieve this. There are a couple of caveats with the Elk though (and would love any input on this): - if you had an alarm or something else, alarm will not respond correctly from the Crestron connection, need to enter the pin and hit disarm a couple of times before operating correctly from the Crestron again. - i have had instability on TCP connections over the years, and have insisted on rs232 because of it.? This obviously hinders remote programming, 3rd party Elk apps etc. More recent firmware on the Elk has seemed to fix this. - When programming ELK, Crestron is kicked out (using TCP) therefore need to do an update when it reconnects to TCP (should be a normal programming practice anyway) - Biggest Issue i am facing is with 3 & 4 Series processors.? I have modified the original Crestron Application Market module code a bit (added in Threadsafe etc).? However the modules crash internally somehow, not sure if it is a crash or just some data getting missed etc.? you can still control the panel, ie arm disarm, control outputs, however all feedback stops working (ie status etc).? This is only happening on larger systems that i can see, and obviously a large amount of data coming into the processor is overwhelming it.? For the time being on the systems this has become a problem, I have utilised a 2 series processor (cp2e etc) to deal with all the data received from the alarm panel then sending the processed data on to the 3/4 series processor.? Any bench testing this issue in the office doesn't show the issue, and working through this with a client is incredibly difficult, as it will just stop working at any time, and the client doesn't realise.
