Buddy, how long is the cable run? Also, are you saying that your
commands being sent to the unit are being executed properly (so the
problem is only with the data comming back)?
We ran into a bizzare situation once where we swapped a projector and
the new one started acting up even though it was the same
manufacturer and had the same protocol. It would function correctly
with a command sent to it but often, we would get garbage back from
it. This was solved by adding an ST-Com at the projector location.
The working theory was that the old projector was using a 5v RS-232
Transceiver Chip and the newer one went to 3.3 - so while we were
still sending to the projector at "full strength", the new projector
didn't have enough juice to talk over a longer distance ... but that
was never investigated/confirmed ;)
Just in case it helps.
Thanks

My first guess would be bit count and parity error settings. The
fact that you are getting some valid words in there would tell me
that the baud rate is correct.

Subject: [Crestron] Lutron feedback issues
I'm getting this feedback from the Lutron processor.
I only saved this bit that I got back after sending the init string
that I copied directly from a working system.
I get the same kind of thing from button presses; lots of question
marks. The system functions properly with the exception of feedback.
This is only controlling 28 shade motors. My serial settings are
proper, I have defined "Crestron" in the Lutron program as a serial
device. I've integrated to a few dozen lutron systems. I'm a little
frustrated.
Lutron Illumination 1.32, Crestron 3.155.1240.
No internet or cell service at the site, maybe today.
