With respect to mounting and future service needs/requirements, we typically utilize a mud ring or back box, horizontally

Deployed/mounted.?

?

As an alternate approach, use an auger screw-type fixing anchor.? These devils have a far greater resistance

from being pulled out of drywall that is in relatively good condition¡not damp or wet.?

So as not to keep my ardent fans waiting, I thought that rather than wait until the end, I'd post individual updates...:)

Today I started to *bench* the (7) units to get them ready - Wifi connect, FW, IP-ID, IP address...? Found two items:

1. Who designed these things?? clearly no one who has installed them or had to take one off its base to service it!!!
Seriously!! We were already planning to use retro back-boxes but I can't imagine mounting these with sheet-rock anchors-The first time an HVAC guy tries to remove it on a Saturday when he's trouble-shooting a No-Heat call from the client he would rip out half the wall!!!? I'm mean, is Crestron really concerned that a 'press-fit' mounting like the old CHV units would not hold this thing on??
NOTE: Though I found no info in the manuals (Ha!) and tech support had no idea as to the *Best Practice* for removing one after it is LOCKED onto its sub-base, we did figure out that if you put a tweeker at a 45 degree angle into the slots at the bottom right corner, you can use this to leverage on the back plate to pull that corner of the stat off its detent. then the tweeker can be used to pop off another detent and the unit comes off...Like I said, the uninitiated will be damaging something I'm sure....

2. Wifi Connection...
Yes, I set up a dedicated 2.4g SSID for the stats (See TStat website/Specs/Communications).? Four of the Stats connected and were able to be set up with reasonable ease apart from the really long reboot and file transfer times.
The other three stats would never see their SSID though they would routinely see the client's main and guess SSIDs and of course the ad-hoc SSID from the crappy HP ENVY printer sitting next to me - So I guess I could get the TStats to print...:)
Support and I tried a bunch of things including setting our special SSID to both 2.4 and 5g like the client SSIDs and doing Factory Resets but they would not see this SSID.
Result: Crestron is advance replacing 3 of 7 TStats...?? ?We'll see on the next round...

Bonus/Easter Egg:
On the same project we have (8) HR-310s... Two of them are being advance replaced OOTB
One would *crash* whenever I tried to put it in acquire mode...
And the other one was physically missing 2 of the 6 battery terminals...YES PHYICALLY MISSING 2 OF THE 6 BATTERY TERMINALS....WTbleep!!

Hope you all enjoyed this first message!? Love you all...:)

?Gonna be a lot longer list than this shortly!? Wait till you get to the programming part.
