Re: RS-232 commands that only worked over an unconventional termination...

What pins were connected on each end?

?

Was is really only the program that was changed, or was hardware changed as well?

?

To answer some of your curiosity:

?

As it happens, RS-232c voltage specifications are not always ¡°strictly¡± adhered to by various manufacturers, on both the control side and the controlled side.

?

For example, the ¡°com¡± ports on a 2-series processor use the full voltage swing but the IR port when used for ¡°one-way serial¡± does not.? This means that some devices that are very robust (forgiving) will work on either and some devices that are more picky will not.?

?

An older processor like a CP2e or a QM-RMC can be handy to use in your situation as it can be connected in place of the TV to check baud rate and commands.? You can also put one between the processor and the TV, using 2 com ports and a program that just connects rx of one port to tx of the other and then you can monitor both commands and responses as they pass through.
