Re: Best way to update a bunch of EX Dimmers??

Wow on this... this tread is just what I¡¯m going thru. I have a system with about 60 devices and I¡¯m experiencing the issues you describe with your system. 3 space buttons are a hit or miss. I was even thinking of leaving them in the program as three separate buttons and program the same to all three.

But you are right, the amount of time that I¡¯m spending setting up an program all of these devices is certainly not what I expected and for sure not what I billed the client for.

I deployed an 80 device Horizon Dimmer / Keypad EX network in July 2020

It was one of the most miserable jobs Ive done in 20 yrs.Beautiful Penthouse on the Bay. There is no way you can estimate the time required, I'd say 10 days to program. Program shouldn't be the word, bumble through every button on every keypad with mixed results every time is probably more accurate. Eventually it worked... mostly.? Getting one (3 button space) button to program properly is still a cluster %*&#! They never seem to actually work. Program Space 1 and Space 3 as a clone is OK if you hit the top or bottom of the button, Setting (use center LED) on the button helps but if pressed in the center like its a single button is hit or miss.... Setting button colors was beyond difficult and very limited. (Two colors per dimmer / keypad at one time) And cant be set programmatically. That means day, night, on,and off is about it for colors... crazy!)

If you could actually accurately estimate the time required to setup and program; no one would have enough money to pay for it and you'd never sell another Horizon EX project. The Cresnet is better but only because the aggravation of working with the InfinEX Diagnostic Tool and having to reload its database EVERYTIME you make a change is eliminated.

Crestron should be ashamed of themselves.
This is a beautiful keypad/dimmer with so many software flaws its essentially junk. I also deployed a wired 75ish device Horizon Keypad and Panel system in December 2019. Again a poorly supported system as a whole. Bug riddled, under documented, under performing all ring true. I guess the saying is true. "You can get better product but you can't pay more!"

It still makes my blood boil to think of the countless wasted hours I'll never get back. <<END RANT
