Re: Anyone want to make a switchbot module?

Thanks Jon.

It was a fun little project.? When I wrote about SwitchBots, and the SwitchBot Curtain, the only way to communicate with them was through IFTTT.? It is a major improvement to have an API; even if it is a cloud API.? I really like SwitchBots.? They are an inexpensive solution for integrating a dumb device into a smart home.? I've used them a couple of times in my own home when there wasn't an alternative or a smart version of a product was way too expensive compared to a dumb alternative.? Just a handy problem solver.

I haven't personally tried the SwitchBot Curtain but it is one of the most economical ways I've seen of automating curtains and drapes.? Jon can talk more to his experience with the product.

Enjoy.

Guys and gals,
Jay Basen is the man. He quickly whipped up a terrific module for Switchbot and has shared his code here:

Jay was able to get Switches, Curtains, and Scenes working. (I don't have any switches but he tested on his and said that works).
I have tested the Curtains for Open, Close, and even the 0d-100d position works perfectly. I also created a few scenes and tested them as well.
If you have any questions, please post here and I will help you get it going. FYI to use the devices you need a SwitchBot Hun Mini (wifi bridge that's about $30) and turn on cloud
in the app.

Hats off to Jay!
