Neutral to mains ground?? ?
Earth ground should not be shorted to neutral anywhere outside the breaker box.? So, I don't know if the ground/neutral voltage difference is problematic.? On nearly all power supplies with a neutral and earth-ground 3-pin plug, there is a common-mode choke transformer in-line with hot and neutral.? Earth ground connects two capacitors, each to hot and neutral to filter.? ? Those EMI filter capacitors can cause 2V/AC that you measure at the wall.??
IMHO, things lock up from transient dropouts on DC power.? ?Is the power supply for the processor loaded near max ratings??
One advantage to 24V is you have a lot of headroom before you reach the minimum voltage needed to generate 5V/3.3V etc.
What else is sharing the supply powering the processor?
