No, it's not new. By design, the NVX is a "closed" system, and only transmits or receives encrypted streams from other NVX units.
However, several people have suggested adding the feature to allow decoding (ONLY) of unencrypted streams. I'm not sure how that would impact their security specs, but if necessary they could make such a box a separate SKU.
Another great option would be to include a graphics engine like the DM-DGE-200-C. Someone (not at Crestron) told me they heard such a unit is in the pipeline, but I think both features are long overdue.
