Can't stay on 1.504 unless you want to keep your device database old on your computer - the latest couple device databases break simpl+ modules completely when loaded to processors with older firmware.

Me personally, I recommend staying on the 1.504 version, unless the 1.60x is absolutely necessary (I still don't trust them...)
