Just to confirm what's already been said:
The DACP protocol and the Bluetooth protocol are completely unrelated, so what you can do with one doesn't translate to feature parity for the other.
The DACP protocol doesn't include any control over the sleep mode for the Apple TVs.
MediaRemote is more likely to mimic the feature set of the Bluetooth remote (as much because they're generationally (is that a word? ;) similar) and I think I remember coming across some sleep/wake functionality in there...
