Re: Autonomics, Sonos....

We have several dozen installs with Autonomic MMS-5a, 2a, and 2. ?The only issues we had were with the old MMS-2 units with failed HDD and main boards. ?They corrected this when they changed the overall design last year. ?They both have competing streaming services (including iTunes and Amazon), but with Autonomic, you are provided a 1Tb or 500Gb HDD, depending on the unit, for music storage (e.g., FLAC @ 192/24 resolution) with a great auto sync applet to import new music from the specified computer(s).

For kicks, I had just priced out a 6 zone Sonos package and one with a CN2-AMP-6x100 with a MMS-2a. ?While the Autonomics package was a few thousand more, it is an easy sell for someone asking for a D/A system and enjoys their music. ?You can drop the price considerably by using a couple of CEN-NSP-1. ?For a small system, Sonos will win on price. ?I think a 6 zone and large system you can be competitive with Crestron and Autonomic. ?

If just using Sonos as a source, then it¡¯s a quality preference between the two products. ?Keep in mind, you¡¯re ALWAYS updating Sonos and it¡¯s a PITA.

Subject: [Crestron] Autonomics, Sonos....

?

Is Autonomics MMS2 or 5 still a good player for the money??

I don't want to offer my clients a product that has been replaced by newer more cost effective technology.

It seems that besides from the Crestron Integration part, even Sonos can give Autonomics a run for a lot less money.

Your opinion will be very much appreciated.
