I know that there is an issue with the extron switchers at the moment that with no activity the ethernet port will disconnect or every 5 minutes you will see the port disconnect and what happens then is verbose mode gets reset to 0 and for detailed feedback you will require verbose mode 1-3 depending on what you are doing.? there is a command to keep the extron ethernet up for one year but that has its issues as well.? they are currently working on this issue. Not all extron comes with updated firmware. Normally not from my experience. If it still doesn't work after firmware, get the protocol and break apart the module to see what needs to be changed to make it work. It's extron, their stuff is pretty easy to control.
