There was a thread I started recently about the difference between the older and newer EISC symbols, and one difference I found is that the newer "Packed" symbols won't re-transmit an analog signal if the value is the same. The older EISC symbols will.
In my case, this made a difference and I had to revert back to the older symbols because I wanted that capability.
Also, I found that dragging one or the other on top of an existing symbol to replace it with the other type didn't expand and populate the replacement symbol properly. Just a heads-up.

1 - I have 2 projects right now, one with 7 separate programs running on a PRO3 all interconnected with packed EISC's. The other with 5 programs on a CP3. Neither has any issues.
2 - like Chip, I haven't seen any timing issues.

1 - My understanding is that the packed version is the current go-to for either 2 or 3 series. I've got two Pro2s chatting back and forth at the moment using packed.
2 - None that I'm aware of! Have a CP3 on a project with a program that talks over EISC to two other programs running in the unit. I didn't make any special considerations at all for it. Just dropped signals and ran with it!

1. Is the ESIC (packed) the correct symbol to use with 3 series processors?
2. Are there any special timing issues encountered with ESIC within the same processor with whom one needs to deal?
