I have confirmed that control of the monitor is possible using only pins 2,3,5 from a laptop to the DB9-2.5mm adaptor at the monitor. However, still no luck with control from the MPC panel.
Maybe Neil is onto something with the 12vdc peak voltage from the com port. This is not a published spec, any idea of the rating from the MPC controller or a DM-RMC?

I have seen all kinda of issues with NEC E series displays bing VERY picky about the peak voltage the control device RS-232 port operates at. For instance 1-way ports peak at 5VDC and wouldn't control the NEC E-series but the full 2-way ports that support 12VDC peak would.
Could be the MPC ports don't do 12VDC peak.
