Excellent info Lincoln, I'm no expert in command prompt designation, but I suspected I wasn't logged into the right 'account'. I haven't changed the promp char yet, but I would think that most of the other commands wouldn't work in the incorrect account either. I received other info on the only CLI login, admin/admin, and I'll give it a go. I may have been logged into a higher level account thus $hit ain't workin'.
Appreciate the reply as always!

I'm not a VBrick expert by any stretch of the imagination (they're becoming more and more rare and when I come across them they're either an "uncontrolled destination" or controlled via contact closure only (start + stop) but if VBrick is like Cisco (and a lot of other CLIs) the prompt may be your clue...
In Cisco (and others) land
Device> indicates that you're in an unprivelaged (sandboxed, restricted/no changes, read only) shell where
Device# indicates that you're in a privelaged (enabled, make changes, do damage) shell.
Perhaps the Crestron module for the VBrick is expecting and (only needs since you said its worked before) a unprivelaged shell and the preson who set up the 'Brick thought you gave the account you're using (or the serial port uses by default) more privelages...
So if you change the > to a # does the module work?

Subject: [Crestron] Re: VBrick SDK anyone?
If there are any lurkers, I spent a little time on it today and it seems like I'm receiving a different prompt than the Crestron module. The Crestron module shows you should receive VBrick> and I receive VBrick#. I realize this may mean I'm logged into the wrong 'account' or something like that so I have two questions that might help.
1) Does a special account need to be setup for Crestron for control, or just login the general admin account?
2) Is there any setup for the serial port, or just leave it 'disabled', meaning not a responder or initiator.
Thanks all!

I'm using the module on the Crestron site, have called VBrick and they say the SDK is the same across the encoder line, the guy setting up the VBrick says it's setup properly...I'm stuck in the middle. :)
I've used the module on other devices and it's been fine, so I'm thinking something isn't setup right, but want to cover all my bases.
