Re: TV Lift timer

The model of the TV lift is a PLD-Studio MOBO-S50 which fro what I hear is not that great.

I called the manufacturer's technical support to verify if there was a limit switch and because the motor malfunctioned and stopped travelling all the way up (surprise suprise $$ = quality). Although they couldn't immediately help me out with my motor malfunction, he did mention that there is a hidden limit switch not intended for end users inside the center shaft. Problem is the lift is already installed. Good news is we will be pulling it out to service it so we can hopefully set the limit.

I was thinking about "timing" it as Tony and Geoffrey suggested but there is a slight difference in up/down speed so it'll be close but not perfect. The "momentary up" button acts as a "stop" button so if needed I can use a contact switch to find where it is and stop it. But I'm only the programmer so I can merely suggest it to sales :)

In the meantime I programmed for a desired up/full down with lock out so that if the client changes his mind during motor travel he will have to wait.

Out of curiosity though, how would I go about tracking the position for the timed up/down assuming consistent motor speed? Analog increment?

Thanks everyone!!
Evan

Without a specific point of reference (e.g. all the way down), it will be
difficult to get something very accurate. You can "time it" in the program, but
depending on what else is going on, it may or may not be precise enough.

A better solution would be to install your own mechanical limit switch, so you
can know exactly when it's in the proper position. It's hard to say how
difficult that will be, without seeing the lift, but it should be feasible. It
could be something as simple as a magnetic door contact, such as those used with
security systems...

Thats not doing it for me because it'll hold the up command for the full
30s again. Any ideas while I talk out loud?

I see a module from Crestron called Up/Down Relays (Interlocked) which
may do what I want.

I have a TV lift coming up out of a cabinet that does not have an upper
limit setting. The lift has an IR remote for all the way up/down and
momentary up/down. The problem is we want the TV up out of the cabinet at a
point less than the full up position.

Currently I have the lift programmed all wait until it is all the way
down before it can go up to its correct position at 30 seconds from down.
Is there a better way to program for this so that if the user wants to
bring the lift back up while it is going down (say accidental off press) so
that it goes to its correct position without having to go all the way back
down?

TIA
