little help...

Has anyone in the group coverted thier c-car to gas power?

I bought a 1980 commutacar and it has been upgraded to 64 volts and
has a curtis controller. I'll post some pics right away...

I also found a citicar that I planned to use for parts. But after
looking at it I was thinking that I could easily mount a motorcycle
engine in the back and make a little speedster out of it...

I'll keep you posted...

Oh YUH, Gasoline! :^)

Actually, I have seen a Citicar converted to ICE, though this one was fueled with hydrogen. I don't recall too much of the details, I think it had a small one cylinder engine, fairly large though, maybe 10-12 HP. I think it had a snowmobile style variable pulley belt drive.

Keep in mind you will have to have some sort of tranny. That may make things a bit more challenging.

Thanks,

Just curious....what kind of range and top speed can you get from the 64V
setup? I am assuming that 8V batteries were used in place of the standard 6V
ones? What does it use for a charger?

Thanks,

Bob

Well, I can get a little better than 15 miles (very hilly between my
house and work, about 6.5 miles.)

Top speed of 45, probably can go faster, but I don't feel the need.

8 volt batts were used yes.

The charger that the person I bought it from put in is a manual one
he made for it... It has a variac (spelling) and a bridge rectifier. This
way I can charge fast or slow. I am planning on getting a regular
charger though. This one is way too difficult to use with my Honda
2000i generator (super quiet, great for this, fits behind the seat.). It
can pull more than 13 amps (on the lowest setting) from the
generator and it will shut down, but only on big hills.

I plan on getting a solid state charger with a 5amp and 10 amp
limiter on it...
