You may want to check the spring tension while you’re at it. Weak springs can cause excessive arcing, which will burn out brushes. Tom Keenan

1980 Comuta-car up and running for a month, the brushes could not handle the heat. Switched to normal brushes, breaking them in now. Will get pics of burt brushes out soon.
