Re: Volt Meter /Fuel Gauge

I just used my Citicar (when it had 8v batteries) with 16v on the meter. ?It was low, as you noticed. It -might- be possible to put a small dc/dc converter in series with two of the batteries, and adjusting the dc/dc output to add about 2 volts to ¡®correct¡¯ the meter.?

Small LM2596 based converters are relatively cheap on Amazon. ?One listing has them 6 ea for $10.95. I¡¯m not sure how they will act in series, however. ?They may or may not behave well in a high voltage string.?

Alternatively, there is a meter adjustment screw on the front of the meter that changes the spring rate of the meter, but this may change the zero setting as well. ?

Third option: the meter has a resistor in line with the meter; you might be able to change the value of the resistor to get the meter matched with 16 volts.?

So that makes sense, if you have 6 volt batteries it¡¯s getting the voltage from 3 of the batteries (6 x 3 =18). It is telling you the state of those batteries which should be the same as the hole pack. I use 8 volt batteries, so I pegged it at 24 or was supper low at 16 volts. Anybody else able to convert it for 8 volt?

All of my accessories are 12v, I have no 18v to the dash. One place in my book it shows the 18awg white wire going to the neg on battery pack. Another place shows?¨C to ground and + to 48v. Another place showes White ti fuse then to battery + neg to ground.
Very Confusing.
