SESSIONTIMELIMIT 16
Looking for assistance with this command in my VARA HF port. I am finding the need to put a limit on this port, to counter the RMS users that think they should use VARA HF to download a week or two worth of WL2K messages. I have added the sessiontimelimit command but it does not seem to be working, running LinBPQ ver 24.45. My port config below ;.................... VARA HF Port 5 ..................... Current ("new") Rig Control and associated ports 7
Hi All, I've been using the new/current rig control method ever since adding rig control to linbpq a little over a year ago. I only have one HF radio for now, and I've never needed a "RADIO 1" statement in any of the ports that are associated with the radio. Given there are multiple ports using the same radio, I do have INTERLOCK=1 in each port. If I were to add a second radio and therefore a RADIO 2 section in the rig control area of the main config, would INTERLOCK=2 in each associated port be sufficient to "point" new ports to radio #2, or would I need to add RADIO 1 and RADIO 2 statements to each applicable port? Currently I can't tell if the interlock statement is taking care of associating the ports to the radio, or if I am getting away with no RADIO 1 statement because it's implied due to only having one radio. Thanks, Lee K5DAT

CVE-2025-24264 Vulnerabilities 2
Reviewing the Wazuh SIEM daily report, I am seeing multiple high vulnerabilities on two RPi5's both the piLinBPQ64 servers. Both piLinBPQ64 servers are Debian RPi5 64bit based. Both vulnerabilities are part of (CVE-2025-24264) And, it is not just Linux that is affected. IOS iPad, MAC and more... https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2025-24264 libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 libjavascriptcoregtk-4.1-0 This CVE is not showing up on another Debian RPi5 hosting JNOS and XRouter (yet). The libraries are not installed. Maybe this is part of a gtk2 and/or gir1.2 packages? Is anyone else seeing these alerts? 73, JohnF ps. In case you are interested: If you don't have a SIEM to watch your logs, I would recommend the OpenSource Wazuh solution. It has a wide range of supporting OS's. Just do the Quickstart and you will be up and running in minutes(not hours like ElasticSearch). Another great free cyber tool is Snort3. I use mine as a NIPS which provides active blocking (e.g. telnet connections trying for "root" access). This is a little more involved to set up, but I believe it worth the time and effort. I have Snort3 running on each of the RPi5 Debian servers. The Wazuh SIEM is running on a standalone Ubuntu 24.04 LTS box and a wazuh-agent at the endpoints.

Pickup and forward Mail/Bull 19
Hi Term I need to pickup Email/Bulls from GB7CIP and store it on my system In the Port 3 AXIP I have a MAP entry to GB7CIP Now looking at the very few Docs they Suggest that you create a user GB7CIP on my system under Mail Management, Then in the same section fill out an entry in Forwarding for GB7CIP. When I press forward, my system does not call GB7CIP, yet in the logs it thinks I am connect to GB7CIP. So I can only assume that I am actually connecting to my own system, to a user GB7CIP Can anyone please tell me where I am going wrong... All the best from Alan

LinBPQ mail forward to LinFBB issue. 8
Hi all, I have been trying to configure my linBPQ Bookworm Raspberry Pi to forward mail to a LinFBB BBS. I have followed a number of guides and am pretty sure I have it configured correctly, but the mail never forwards. I see a number of retries (I have snipped the logs to reduce the size of this message). Can anyone see an issue? The pertinent part of linmail.cfg is as follows: GB7CIP : { TOCalls = "GB7CIP"; ConnectScript = "C 1 GB7CIP-0"; ATCalls = "#32.GBR.EURO "; HRoutes = "#32.GBR.EURO|WW"; HRoutesP = "#32.GBR.EURO|WW"; FWDTimes = ""; Enabled = 0; RequestReverse = 1; AllowBlocked = 1; AllowCompressed = 1; UseB1Protocol = 1; UseB2Protocol = 0; SendCTRLZ = 0; FWDPersonalsOnly = 0; FWDNewImmediately = 1; FwdInterval = 10; RevFWDInterval = 10; MaxFBBBlock = 10000; ConTimeout = 120; BBSHA = "GB7WOR.#32.GBR.EURO"; }; In logLatest_BBS.txt it shows retries: 250411 05:24:39 >GB7CIP C 1 GB7CIP-0 250411 05:24:41 <GB7CIP GB7WOR:GB7WOR-7} Connected to GB7CIP 250411 05:25:01 <GB7CIP [FBB-7.0.11-AB1FHMRX$] 250411 05:25:01 <GB7CIP {PROTUS-4.1 2} 250411 05:25:01 <GB7CIP GB7CIP Mailbox, QTH Caterham Surrey GBR. 250411 05:25:01 <GB7CIP Msg(s) to Fwd 6 1 Kb 250411 05:25:01 <GB7CIP (1) GB7CIP BBS> 250411 05:25:01 >GB7CIP [BPQ-6.0.24.69-B1FIHJM$] 250411 05:25:01 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#32.GBR.EURO G4APL 24_GB7WOR 56 250411 05:25:01 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#32.GBR.EURO G4APL 25_GB7WOR 56 250411 05:25:01 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#GBR.EURO PING 26_GB7WOR 58 250411 05:25:01 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#GBR.EURO PING 27_GB7WOR 58 250411 05:25:01 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#32.GBR.EURO PING 29_GB7WOR 58 250411 05:25:01 >GB7CIP F> BC 250411 05:26:46 |GB7CIP GB7CIP Disconnected 250411 05:26:56 |GB7CIP Connecting to BBS GB7CIP 250411 05:26:56 <GB7CIP *** CONNECTED 250411 05:26:56 >GB7CIP C 1 GB7CIP-0 250411 05:26:58 <GB7CIP GB7WOR:GB7WOR-7} Connected to GB7CIP 250411 05:26:59 <GB7CIP [FBB-7.0.11-AB1FHMRX$] 250411 05:26:59 <GB7CIP {PROTUS-4.1 2} 250411 05:26:59 <GB7CIP GB7CIP Mailbox, QTH Caterham Surrey GBR. 250411 05:26:59 <GB7CIP Msg(s) to Fwd 6 1 Kb 250411 05:26:59 <GB7CIP (1) GB7CIP BBS> 250411 05:26:59 >GB7CIP [BPQ-6.0.24.69-B1FIHJM$] 250411 05:26:59 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#32.GBR.EURO G4APL 24_GB7WOR 56 250411 05:26:59 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#32.GBR.EURO G4APL 25_GB7WOR 56 250411 05:26:59 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#GBR.EURO PING 26_GB7WOR 58 250411 05:26:59 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#GBR.EURO PING 27_GB7WOR 58 250411 05:26:59 >GB7CIP FA P G7TWZ GB7CIP.#32.GBR.EURO PING 29_GB7WOR 58 250411 05:26:59 >GB7CIP F> BC 250411 05:28:05 |GB7CIP GB7CIP Disconnected As above, I have snipped the whole AX25 convo (all retries) due to size: 1:Fm GB7WOR-11 To GB7CIP <SABM C P>[05:24:31T] 1:Fm GB7CIP To GB7WOR-11 <UA R F>[05:24:32R][+++][+++++][AX25 1624] 1:Fm GB7WOR-11 To GB7CIP <SABM C P>[05:24:39T] 1:Fm GB7CIP To GB7WOR-11 <UA R F>[05:24:40R][+++][+++++][AX25 1624] 1:Fm GB7CIP To GB7WOR-11 <RR C P R0>[05:24:48R][+++][+++++][AX25 1624] 1:Fm GB7WOR-11 To GB7CIP <RR R F R0>[05:24:49T] 1:Fm GB7CIP To GB7WOR-11 <RR C P R0>[05:24:58R][+++][+++++][AX25 1624] 1:Fm GB7WOR-11 To GB7CIP <RR R F R0>[05:24:58T] 1:Fm GB7CIP To GB7WOR-11 <I C R0 S0 pid=F0 Len=117>[05:25:01R][-+-][+++++][AX25 1584] [FBB-7.0.11-AB1FHMRX$] {PROTUS-4.1 2} GB7CIP Mailbox, QTH Caterham Surrey GBR. NNTP News Reader for Mac or Android? 4
Quick question: Has anyone found a decent NNTP newsreader that work on either OS/X (Mac) or Android? I really don't feel like writing a python (or PHP) one. What would be really neat would be an old style echomail downloader from the days of FidoNet and the dial-up BBS's. Thanks! -Chris KO4YAW

Telnet issues via older clients 4
Hi all, If I try to telnet into my node (on my home LAN) from an older telnet client (i.e. MS-DOS or Mac System 7) I get the callsign prompt and after typing 1 or 2 characters several gibberish characters are printed on the screen and I can't type anymore. If, from one of these older telnet clients, I telnet into a Linux box I have on my LAN and then from there telnet into my node all is fine. So there's some compatibility issue between the old and new. These same older telnet clients can telnet into anything and everything I've thrown at them from Linux boxes to various "modern" bulletin board systems etc. But just not LinBPQ's telnet server. This isn't "mission critical", I just like to mix hobbies. I've tried all the things you'd expect like vt100 vs ansi etc, to no avail. Anyone else solve this issue? Or am I the only one even trying to match up such old machines with LinBPQ's telnet lol. 73, Doug

Ohio Packet Hub Allstar 2
Good morning all. Matt KB8UVN has an allstar node called Ohio Packet Hub 510810. I have teamed up with him and connected my Allstar node and ADN DMR Network together. The TG on the ADN Network is 31395. I am passing this information along. In the hopes that we can get some voice traffic about packet, Vara, BPQ, etc. Give you a place to talk about it instead of waiting for an email reply. Sometimes you can get things resolved fast by voice than over email. Any issues, concerns or problems. Please let me know. Ryan My ADN Server is 3103.adn.systems.

Add apps to node 7
I am trying to add some applications to my node. Under JNOS I was able to add "mbox alias" statements that allowed users to enter an alias e.g. "MUD" and then it would magically telnet them to an app (a copy of Circle MUD). Can I do this with BPQ? I've done this in my config APPLICATION 4,MUD,,NI2O-5,WYNWX,255 but I can't work out how to then create a telnet connection out of the node to the service when the MUD command is issued. All I get is "WAYNE:NI2O-3} Sorry, Application MUD is not running - Please try later". Which makes sense as there's no instructions to do "telnet 44.56.66.6 4000". While I'm at it, can we also do "finger"? eg "finger ^philadelphia@..." Thanks Mark / NI2O
