M HEARD AND BPQ.CONFIG MAP COMMENTS #bbs #bpq32 #bpqconfig #maps

HELLO;
?
I HAD 160+ MAP COMMENTS CONFIGURED IN MY BPQ.CONFIG FILE, AND A GOOD PERCENTAGE WOULD SHOW UP IN MY MHEARD LIST.
THEN I REDUCED THE 160+ TO ABOUT 50 OR SO AND MANY OF MY MHEARDS I DID NOT REMOVE DISAPPEARED AND HAVENT BEEN SEEN SINCE. EVEN THOUGH I CAN SEE THEM IN OTHER SYSOPS MHEARD LISTS.
?
IS THERE AN ADJUSTMENT I CAN MAKE SOMEWHERE TO BRING THE ONES I HAVE STILL IN MY BPQ.CONFIG MAPS COMMENTS BACK INTO MY MHEARD. MINQUAL= OR SOME SUCH THING.
IT DOESNT MAKE SINCE WHY THEY WHERE THERE THEN NOW THEY ARE NOT.
?
I NARROWED MY MAPS COMMENTS DOWN TO A MORE LOCAL AREA IE WEST COAST. AND A FEW IMPORTANT TO ME NODES.?

I'm not really sure what you mean by this. Can you give an example of a MAP Comment?

EXAMPLE :
MAP WIZ5ANT-9 WIZ5ANT.XXNS.NET UDP 10098 B
?
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE NOT A REAL MAP COMMENT
?
IN PORT 2 AXIP
?

Ok, I don't call it that so I was confused.? That is a MAP statement which literally maps a call sign to an IP address, and further provides a prodocol (UDP) and port number (10098) and a tag that tells BPQ to include broadcasting node information to that mapped station.
?
Usually startions will have a varying number of MAP statements equal to the number of AXIP connections.? I personally have about 25 and consider myself a moderately sized station.? N3HYM, Ray, has about 90 and I consider him on the upper end of a large station. What you are describing, with 150 to me is outlandish, really.?? The BPQ map shows that you have about 16 reciprocal MAP link, or AXIP links to other stations.? This makes me sort of think that you and I are not consistent with the need for AXIP connections.
?
It's your call how many you have but the geneeral rule is coordinate your connections with others and both ends need reciprocal MAP lines.? It looks like you only have about 16 reciprocal links.? The way to "bring them back into your MHEARD" is to coordinate with each of them and correct any error in the connection.? It takes two to make the connection.?? I'm thinking at some point you have changed your IP address and lost the other end of most of your links.

THANKS MARK;
?
YES THE 15 OR SO ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT TO ME AND SHOW UP IN MHEARD VERY QUICKLY,?
SO THAT IS THE REASON IM ASKING.
I HAVE HAD AS MANY AS 50 OR 60 THAT WHERE ALL COORDINATED WITH BOTH SIDES INFO AND WORKED WELL
WHEN I REMOVED THE 160+ THAT WHERE IN THE MAP STATEMENT SECTION MANY OF MY PRE-COORDINATED STATEMENTS
DISSAPEARED.?
I HAVE BEEN UP AND RUNNING FOR 1 YEAR THIS AUG AND NOT CHANGED ANYTHING INCLUDING MY IP.
SO I STILL HAVE THE SAME QUESTION ABOUT WHERE THE STATIONS I HAD IN MH WENT.
?
THAT BEING SAID TNX FER THE INFO ON ABOUT HOW MANY SHOULD BE ENOUGH IM GOING TO WEED THROUGH MY SYSTEM?
AND REMOVE SOME MORE NON-CRITICAL MAP STATEMENTS.

Mark (K7OI),

I have a map for you, and it looks like it's trying to link up but never makes it. My other links show "T=3" as opposed to "T=1" for yours. I forget what that means, so maybe someone who knows can chime in. If I try to connect to K7OI-5 on my port 3, it fails.

K7OI-5 K5DAT-7 S=5 P=3 T=1 V=2

Mark,

There is a limit of 128 entries in the MAP table, so only the first 128 MAP entries in your config will be used.

AXIP ports have two Heard lists, one displayed by the normal MH and an AXIP specific list displayed with the AXM command.

For a station to appear in either that station must have a valid MAP statement for you. To appear in MH you must also have a valid MAP for them. You can check that your map entries are ok by using the AXR command. This shows the IP address associated with the host for specified in the MAP.

So if you are not seeing a station in MH that you expect to be there first check with the sysop of that station that he has a MAP for you then check your AXM to make sure their call appears.

S is link status, 5 means it's connected
P is Port #
T is type of connection, 1= Uplink (station to node), 2= downlink(node to station), 3= crosslink(node to node)
V is AX.25 version (1 or 2)
?
So my guess is it's showing T=1 because K7OI-5 is? not the node call
