Re: Pickup and forward Mail/Bull

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Sorry, pressed send too soon.

There are lots of things that could be wrong. You said you had a MAP entry. Does GB7CIP have one for you?

You can use the AXR command to check if the MAP entry is there, and if you are using a host name instead of IP addresss whether it has resolved correctly.

AXM (AX Mheard) command will show if you are hearing anything from him.

Are you using NETROM on the link, and if so does GB7CIP appear in your ROUTES and NODES lists?

If you are using Windows you can open a Monitor window to check what you are sending and receiving. If you are on Linux the best way to monitor is to use QtTermTCP.

John

Re: AXIP failed to create RAW socket 10013

A while ago Microsoft changed something so you now need administrator privileges to open raw sockets. The only solutions I'm aware of it to change to using UDP instead of raw IP or run BPQ32 as Administrator.

It's hard to tell from the info you've given but I doubt if you are connecting to your own system.

Can you post a screen dump of the User and Forwarding config for GB7CIP and the BBS log from a connect attempt.

CVE-2025-24264 Vulnerabilities

Reviewing the Wazuh SIEM daily report, I am seeing multiple high vulnerabilities on two RPi5's both the piLinBPQ64 servers.
Both piLinBPQ64 servers are Debian RPi5 64bit based.
Both vulnerabilities are part of (CVE-2025-24264) And, it is not just Linux that is affected. IOS iPad, MAC and more...
https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2025-24264
libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0
libjavascriptcoregtk-4.1-0?
?
This CVE is not showing up on another Debian RPi5 hosting JNOS and XRouter (yet).? The libraries are not installed. Maybe this is part of a gtk2 and/or gir1.2 packages?
?
Is anyone else seeing these alerts?
?
73, JohnF
?
ps.
In case you are interested:
If you don't have a SIEM to watch your logs, I would recommend the OpenSource Wazuh solution. It has a wide range of supporting OS's. Just do the Quickstart and you will be up and running in minutes(not hours like ElasticSearch). Another great free cyber tool is Snort3. I use mine as a NIPS which provides active blocking (e.g. telnet connections trying for "root" access). This is a little more involved to set up, but I believe it worth the time and effort.
I have Snort3 running on each of the RPi5 Debian servers. The Wazuh SIEM is running on a standalone Ubuntu 24.04 LTS box and a wazuh-agent at the endpoints.

Set forwarding ENABLE FORWARDING checked and the interval 600 or more.? You can initiate forwarding by clicking Start Forwarding.? Set at 10 means that every 10 seconds it attempts to START A NEW CONNECTION and likely is creating an error because the previous connection has not yet completed.? I'm surprised that is not shown in the log.

This suggests to me that you are using your call as your NODEALIAS.? If you have NODEALIAS=GB7WOR in your config file maybe you should use something like WORNOD as your node alias to prevent any conflicts or confusion.

Re: LinBPQ mail forward to LinFBB issue.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

To see what is going on I need to see how the connection ends, which needs more of the trace. Two possibilities are the path is good enough to send small packets like the connect requests but not the larger data packet of the proposal or GB7CIP closes the connection for some reason. There could be other reasons, but the trace will help finding out.

Re: LinBPQ mail forward to LinFBB issue.

Thanks all, I should have said that I stopped forwarding on the web interface to prevent retries every 10 seconds (while I am faulting) and flooding the channel. It is set it to 1 when testing.

Re: LinBPQ mail forward to LinFBB issue.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

The only thing in your linmail.cfg what I see right away is that 'Enabled = 0' what means that forwarding is switched off. (What should be 1) You can only request reverse?
forwarding because? 'RequestReverse = 1'.

Quick question:
?
Has anyone found a decent NNTP newsreader that work on either OS/X (Mac) or Android? I really don't feel like writing a python (or PHP) one.
?
What would be really neat would be an old style echomail downloader from the days of FidoNet and the dial-up BBS's.
?
Thanks!
