Re: How to HF packet using SCS modem

Bleh, I did not format that.

Let me try again. :D

ATT 3
HFPACKET
C CALLSIGN

Re: How to HF packet using SCS modem

Jim,

I think for that modem it is similar to this:

For a normal (300 Baud HF Packet) call enter:

ATT 3 HFPACKET C CALLSIGN

If you want to, and have configured, you can send after ATT(aching) the RADIO 14.1234 command. As long as you are attached and use INTERLOCK= or RADIO= on that PORT it should stop the scan until you remove the connection.

WinRPR, PTC-IIusb, Tracker(including Teensy Tracker) kind of share mostly the same command sets.

73 Kayne From :

How to HF packet using SCS modem

Can't figure this one out, I want to connect to another station using HF packet ax.25, not robust packet, using my SCS PTC-IIusb.
I'm currently scanning for Pactor connects, so I need to halt scanning and set the frequency and ssb mode
before making my call to the other station. I can attach the port, stopping scanning, and use radio to set freq/mode ok
but then when I issue the connect callsign, it sends a pactor connect, not a packet connect.
If I disconnect, then I can issue a connect port callsign and the packet connect works ok, but then the radio starts scanning, not what I want.?? How to stop scanning and issue a packet connect?
?

Re: Killing zombie Bulls with dates older than XX days?

Odd, I have that set in housekeeping so not sure if thats working.

Say will it look at dates in the RLINES and determine it should be cleaned with housekeeping?

KH I've used in a pinch. That works ok, too.

Re: Killing zombie Bulls with dates older than XX days?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Housekeeping will remove messages older that the limits you've specified in the housekeeping config. You can also kill all held messages with KH.

I read where others were using QTT for direct K2K sessions so assume I am not using QTT for something it was not intended for... if I am then please ignore this post!

The segfault is easy to reproduce using two systems which for this example I am calling system A and system B. Start QTS on both A and B with AGW enabled on a port of your choosing. I used the default port 8000 for testing.

Start a fresh copy of QTT on both system A and B letting QTT create a new .ini file. On both A and B systems enable QTT Listen on the default port 8015. Again on both A and B within the QTT AGW Setup enable both the interface and the monitor and set Ports to 1. Then set a unique Terminal Call for each and make sure the port in the AGW tnc setup sections match whatever port was specified for AGW in QTS. Save the QTT config then stop and restart QTT.

An AGW connect from either A to B or from B to A works. To reproduce the segfault simply attempt sending something TO the system that issued the connect FROM the system that was connected to. A gdb backtrace should look very similar to the one I provided at /g/bpq32/message/40577 .

I reworked the original QTT .73 patch and attached it for use with QTT .77 Beta 1 source. Rework or ignore as seen fit.

Connections to the bbs are normal and working ok as far as I can tell.

added setting mycall to the config section of the pactor port.
this parameter sets the modem's callsign to use on outgoing connects!

Re: Segmentation fault

Can you look in the BBS log and see if it has recorded the call of the bbs it is trying to connect to. The segfault may have disrupted the logging, but if not disable forwarding the the bbs it was trying to connect to and check the connect script. If there isn't anything helpful in the log you could try starting forwarding to each bbs in turn and see which one is causing the problem..

John

Re: Kenwood TS-480 BPQ32 and VARA HF configuration help

So I have good news, IT'S WORKING!
?
Adding the command RIGCONTROL the option of DATAPTT that I found used for radios with internal sound card like the Yaesu FT-991A did the trick!
?
This is the working config for the Kenwood TS-480 with VARA HF and BPQ32:
?
;------------------------------------------- ?VARA HF PORT -------------------------------------
PORT
?ID=VARA
?PORTNUM=5
?DRIVER=VARA
?CONFIG
? ADDR 127.0.0.1 8303 PTT CAT PATH C:\VARA\VARA.exe
?RIGCONTROL
? COM3 19200 KENWOOD TS480 DATAPTT
? 10.1476,USB
?***
?BW500
ENDPORT
?
Thanks to all who helped in this journey on reviving an old HF radio to life!

Re: Kenwood TS-480 BPQ32 and VARA HF configuration help

John
?
Is this documentation for radio with its own internal sound card:
?
This will switch the modulation source to Soundcard when a Sound Card modem sets PTT and return it to the AUX connector when PTT is dropped. With the ICOM rigs, if you want to select a different input when the sound card is not selected, you can add MIC, AUX or MICAUX after?PTT_SETS_INPUT. So if you are using the MIC connector for an SCS Tracker and the AUX for a PTC you could have

RIGCONTROL COM8 19200 ICOM IC7100 88 ?PTT_SETS_INPUT?MICAUX

Normally the radio should be set to accept input from the hardware TNC before running BPQ.

Some Kenwood radios use a different CAT command (TX1 instead of TX) to select USB input. If this is the case use the DATAPTT command. You may need to experiment to see if you need DATAPTT instead of or as well as PTT_SETS_INPUT with these radios.
?
If want to rise the RTS in the CAT port for the radio can I use the PTT_SETS_INPUT, can you provide an example?
?
Thanks
?

Re: Linbpq, Winlink Express, and Kenwood D710 won't connect

This turned out to be 1D10T error because of a duplicate callsign and SSID.

I had tested the RMS feature for our permanent node while it was at my QTH and I had internet. When I moved it to our tower, I forgot to comment out the Application for the RMS (APPLICATION 3,RMS,C 1 CMS,K9TSM-10,,0) because we don¡¯t have internet there yet. When I put up a temporary node at a separate location and used the same call and SSID, I had identical calls in the same system. Once that was taken care of, the Kenwood (and others) worked flawlessly.

?

Thanks to all that tried to help. But as the old saying goes, ¡°You can¡¯t fix stupid, not even with duct tape.¡±

Re: Kenwood TS-480 BPQ32 and VARA HF configuration help

Jouko
?
I did had performed your recommendations and also in the radio the MIC data volume has been set to 9, the maximum.
?
I have been reading the radio manual and what I understood is that the RTS needs to be high on the DB9 CAT port so the radio switches to the data port MIC.
?
In WSTJ-X for it to work properly that's a setting that needs to be activated as the screen shoot provided, is there a command for RIGCONTROL to achieve this?
?
I was reading BPQ32 documentation it states that RIGCONTROL commands are legacy and it will continue to be active for backward combability but I cant find anywhere all the available commands on the documentation.
