IPv6
Hi John (G8BPQ),
I hope you have read my message of a couple of days ago to the list that outgoing IPv6 telnet forwarding doesn't work in the latest beta as well as the stable version. It fails to connect if I test it manually to a IPv6 only accessible tcp port. This makes that I can't forward to telnet servers who are only accessible over IPv6 or that IPv4/IPv6 accessible ports fall back to IPv4. They can access BPQ here with IPv6 over telnet, so luckily the mail flows with reserve forwarding in that way. Is there any solution to this? Regards, Boudewijn VE3TOK --- The issue with BPQ seems to be not the 'defaulting to IPv4' but that outgoing telnet to IPv6 fails to connect at all both in the latest stable and beta versions and this while IPv4 and IPv6 are both enabled for the telnet port, see below. -- I tested outgoing telnet from the BPQ node to a tcp port what can only handle IPv6 as I have a 6tunnel for IPv6 to Xnet, what is a IPv4 only program. 6tunnel converts here a IPv6 input at tcp port 24 to IPv4 at tcp port 23 what connects to Xnet. Re: RF Path
yes, like i replied earlier; the aprsis system will reject all dupes. so if a packet is sent by 2 methods or 20 methods, the first packet to arrive is accepted and all others are rejected. since there is minimal delay in sending a packet 'over the internet', that packet will arrive first 99 times out of 100 and therefore all other duplicate packets are rejected. :) good luck kb0wlf On Thu, May 22, 2025 at 8:26?AM Don via <donpjr=[email protected]> wrote:

6.0.24.71 Segfault
John,
I just noticed an unexpected restart for the #USWST chat hub. There are no RF ports on this system. The only 2 ports are AXIP and Telnet. It is a Debian Bookworm 12.10 x64 based vpn updated just a few days ago. The following is from the console. The first 3 lines are from my wrapper script but note the time is in PDT so for the moment is -7 hrs from UTC... also note that the executable was stripped after compile so I am guessing what follows may not be much help. I will rerun a non-stripped copy and if necessary via gdb if needed. ** * LinBPQ restart - 20250518200601 ** G8BPQ AX25 Packet Switch System Version 6.0.24.71 April 2025 Copyright?? 2001-2025 John Wiseman G8BPQ Current Directory is /home/linbpq/linbpq Log Directory is /home/linbpq/linbpq Making Directory /home/linbpq/linbpq/logs Configuration file Preprocessor. Re: Slackware 15 Build Fail
Yes, that is helpful. A suggestion for the document would be a quick
mention about either making symbolic links from library.so to library.a for Slackware, or any other platform that uses shared object libraries. Or editing the makefile changing .a depends to .so. I almost forgot about that when compiling this last time. Thanks, John. Chris KQ6UP On Tue, May 20, 2025 at 10:25?PM John G8BPQ via groups.io <john.wiseman@...> wrote:

Re: Sample LinBPQ Configuration
Thanks, Scott. My .cfg looks a lot like that.
?
I think one of the problems with configuration files is that some of them lean towards being a "how-to" for everything possible and the new SYSOP gets overwhelmed. Direwolf is the same way. Once I figured out that I didn't need it all, life got easier.
?
Just to be clear, I'm not complaining about the software developers doing this. They write code and BPQ and Direwolf are both complex programs. The company I retired from as a technical writer had several people to developed classroom training and? user assistance (help files) and it was a full-time job to keep up. And we were getting paid. The developers for this freeware that we enjoy are probably a one man show and do this as a service to the hobby.?
?
Not sure what the answer is but examples like Scott's should help the new user.
