LocalNet does not work with AGW connections to BPQ
Hi, Can this be fixed so if your source address is in LOCALNET=x.x.x.x/24 on the telnet port also covers AGW connections to node "SWITCH"? Meaning that when I use QTTermTCP to connect to bpq in AGW mode and try to use node sysop commands like: ATTACH port RADIO 12.3456 I get you are not authorized. Yea I could use the sysop password but think this LOCALNET should cover AGW sessions covering this so I dont need to auth when coming from a trusted IP range. Thanks |
Chat Link Reconnect Failure
Sometime overnight the chat service #USWCH:WA3WLH-14 on the US West regional chat hub #USWST:WA3WLH-15 dropped the chat link with my home chat service WLHCHT:WA3WLH-11 on node WLHNOD:WA3WLH-7. This is not unexpected given random weirdness on the internet and is typically the result of some secondary or child chat link hanging on to NETROM info for way too long. It is easy to confirm by reviewing the chat log for the dreaded "Refusing link from WA3WLH-14 to WA3WLH-11 to prevent a loop.". I assumed the drop last night was due to this sort of loop prevention so I never bothered to verify since the condition typically clears within 12 hours or so.
Now that it is well late in the afternoon I see that while there is a good AXUDP link between these nodes the chat services remain disconnected so I had a look in the chat log. I can see a chat service connect from my home node to the west hub followed almost immediately by a disconnect from the west hub but where there used to be the loop prevention message there is no obvious reason that I can see. Here is what I see in actual chat log file: 250418 20:30:11 |#USWCH??? Connecting to Chat Node #USWCH 250418 20:30:11 <#USWCH??? *** CONNECTED 250418 20:30:11 >#USWCH??? Hello Alan, There are two choices. 1) Connect to your node, and issue S (S is for stats) or 2) Connect to your BBS and issue S. Therefore you will either find it on the first try or the second try. Hint: John said "The S command shows node uptime." 73, Lee K5DAT

Are you sure your service is called gb7esc? Do you need sudo?
The S command shows node uptime. Make sure it goes back to zero when you try to restart. ?
Hi John,
?
? No I never use sudo, i always su - for me to change at my time of life is not going to happen :)
?
? Glad you asked that, I went into /etc/systemd/system and it was not there GULP!!!

Re: IDMSG BTMSG
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYou need to add UNPROTO=BEACON (or whatever address you want your beacons to go to) in each PORT that you want to send beacons on.systemctl restart gb7esc.service Are you sure your service is called gb7esc? Re: BPQ Mail crash - confirmation help
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIt isn't a very useful thing to do but it shouldn't crash. I'll look into it.73, John On 17/04/2025 13:53, Mark Taylor wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAre you sure that systemctl restart gb7esc.service worked and restarted BPQ?BTEXT is sent to the UNPROTO call specified in the PORT config, so if you don't have UNPROTO it won't set sent. 73, John On 17/04/2025 12:00, Alan - G0WDA

Re: LinBPQ says: Error - Port in use (Session Attached
Thank you. So now the above sample looks like this:
IDLETIME 60 ATTACH 6 RADIO 14.10230 USB #\TRX F 14102.30 #\TRX F 7044 PAUSE 2 #MYLEVEL 1 MSGTYPES PTRB5000 C <call> ELSE PAUSE 30 IDLETIME 60 ATTACH 6 RADIO 14.10230 USB #\TRX F 14102.30 #\TRX F 7044 PAUSE 2 #MYLEVEL 1 MSGTYPES PTRB5000 GTOR <call> It seems KAM XL works better now, I mean after the last G-tor call the modem releases the port so the bbs does not remain in a locked status. Btw, do I need to insert IDLETIME 60 when type manual commands within a terminal? Misko YT7MPB |
BPQ Mail crash - confirmation help
Can someone help with confirming or denying that this situation happens to you please.
?
Required: Windows 10.? BPQ Mail.? HTTP access.? Templates installed.
?
Open Browser to BPQ Node Pages
Select Webmail
Select Send Message
Select Use Template
Select General Forms
Select No Page Selected
?
At this point BPQ Mail closes.
?
I'd like to see if this happens to all others.? If so, perhaps John can fix the code where it returns to the previous page or back to List.
?
To prevent this, select Back on your browser until you get to the list.??
?
But, if you go back to the form and click cancel, it takes you to the form selection again.
?
?
?
"When I sent to the doctor and complained, his answer was Don't do that."? Perhaps that is the answer here...

Re: 9600baud Setup
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Alan,Yes. The 8800 has a data port on the rear. But you have to do some homework by downloading the manual and look at the specs. Cables for some rigs need to wired up differently to take advantage of the 9600 feature. 9600 can be tricky too. Make sure you have a good line of site.? The web site below has virtually almost every ham radio ever made. And then some... Pictures, manuals, specs, etc. www.rigpix.com Finally, I'm not sure of your goals for 9600,? but because the amount of data I'm passing is so small, I just stick to 1200. Yes. It's noticeably faster and if you get it working, there is definitely a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as a hobbist. But you have to ask yourself, do you really need it? Stay in touch with your progress! 73 de Chris www.ww2bsa.org -------- Original message -------- From: Alan - G0WDA <alan@...> Date: 4/17/25 7:02 AM (GMT-05:00) Subject: Re: [bpq32] 9600baud Setup Good Morning Chris

Re: OT: Digipoint Authors (RETRO fun)
Thanks Marc-Andre, I have found Joachim on Linkedin and reached out to
him there. Not sure how often he checks his linkedin though. I don't check mine often. I will send a postcard to Mark Wahl and hopefully get a response as he has a vintage computer on his QRZ page. That makes me think he enjoys retro computing as well. A lot of these packet radio guys that developed cool softwares seemed to drop off the face of the world after packet faded from popularity. I guess that was their main interest in the hobby. On Thu, Apr 17, 2025 at 1:14?AM Marc-Andre Alpers (DO4OA) via groups.io <do4oa@...> wrote:

And I? replaced it with this
IDMSG:
GB7ESC BPQ BBS in Blackpool, UK - C GB7ESC-1 ***

but after systemctl restart gb7esc.service
?
It was still the same, but once I did a reboot, it changed over to new information

So I assumed that it is either held in memory or cached somewhere.

Now BTEXT is never Transmitted.

DL8HBS is not listed in the official list of German amateur radio callsigns. But that can mean anything. Either that he has returned the license, that he has emigrated from Germany and now lives in another country, or that he has died. For DL4YBG there is an entry with full postal address. And he had a QRZ.com page. I have been using TNT/DPBox under Linux for years in the early 2000s, albeit on CB, and have always found it to be the best box system there is.
