I'm a believer in hardware, too.? I like knowing I can turn it on and just have it work.? Soundcard modems have always been too much of a pain for me.
NinoTNC is probably the best option today.? Gives you exactly what you need.? KISS, multiple on-air baud rates and I2LP.? Kantronics KPC-3 and KPC-9612 are always good options, just much more expensive.
