Ahh the eternal battle of what exactly is the End Of Line.??
With windows putty make sure he applied the setting to the current session or save it to the session and disconnect / reconnect.
If all else fails create a new saved session from defaults and add the settings.
I've often had this discussion with "younger" folks and they are convinced it's broken because it's 2 commands CR LF.. its not until I explain how a typewriter works that they see the light...?
