Fw: One-day prose translation workshops, 2021 [deadline December 28th]

wassalam,
femmy

Subject: ETN: One-day prose translation workshops, 2021 [deadline December 28th]

Hi everybody -

I will be running a series of online one-day literary translation workshops through 2021, in partnership with BCLT.

They will take place on the second Tuesday of every month, 10am-5:30pm London time.

Workshops will be held on Zoom, and will be open to early-career translators anywhere in the world who work into English.

Depending on demand, priority might be given to translators who have not yet had the opportunity to participate in similar workshops, those who work with less commonly translated languages, and those from backgrounds or communities under-represented in the profession.

SCHEDULE

Most of these one-day sessions will be general multilingual prose workshops, for translators working from any language to English; a few will have a linguistic, generic or thematic focus. The initial schedule of workshops is as follows:

12 January - Multilingual prose
9 February - Multilingual prose
9 March - Children's books
13 April - Multilingual prose
11 May - Multilingual prose
8 June - Portuguese
13 July - Multilingual prose
10 August - Multilingual prose
14 September - tbc
12 October - tbc
9 November - tbc
14 December - tbc

APPLYING
In the first instance, I am looking for participants for each of the first three dates: 12 January, 8 February, 9 March.

To apply for a place in one of these workshops, please e-mail multilingualprose@... with a few lines about yourself and your work, by December 28th. (If you have preferences for which session, please say.)

Those selected for the January workshop will be notified on December 29th, those selected for the February and March workshops will be notified in early January.

?

FEE
The fee for participating in a workshop will be ?35 (GBP). All proceeds will contribute towards bursaries for increasing access to BCLT's annual summer school.

(Please note that a small number of free workshop places might be offered, so if you are very keen to take part but unable to meet the fee, do get in touch anyway.)

Do please pass this information on to anybody who might be interested. (All the info above is also in my website, at http://www.danielhahn.co.uk/2021-workshops.html, in case a link is useful.)

All best,

Danny
