U3A Classes this week: R09 Session 6 commences at 11:00 am Thursday. #term4 #hebrews

G'day all,

This is a friendly reminder of the two non-religious Bible courses this week.? You are enrolled in R09 which will start the book of Hebrews this week on Thursday 19/11 at 11 am.? The sign-in details are:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89208017420?pwd=OU45MkprVU00Uk5NOSt6K1JsSmNFdz09
Meeting ID: 892 0801 7420
Passcode: 744932

For those who also attend the H10 Ruth and Esther tomorrow 17/11 at 10:30 am, the sign-in details are:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86744477413?pwd=RWg5ZGlFbkpBa2VwOTdpM3BpcFlLdz09
Meeting ID: 867 4447 7413
Passcode: 814764

An email from U3A just arrived advising that they are further opening up all classrooms for Term 1 2021.? Room 4 will have seating for 15.? I am assuming that they think that the CCP-virus vaccine will be available.? Quite frankly, I am a bit confused about which direction to take and would appreciate any guidance that you might provide.? I will likely be moving house in December or January and whatever transpires may affect my decision-making.

I sincerely apologise if my PowerPoint on the Viking ships offended anyone. I was so excited about finding ancestors like that that I didn't consider all aspects. At least I am now motivated to perhaps add my Family History course back to the U3A schedule in Term 1 if we decide to go in-person then.? So once again, if sorry is appropriate, I apologise.

Blessings,

Ray

Thanks for class reminders, Ray. Apologies, can't zoom the Esther but surely hope to join in on Hebrews.

I, for one, can't imagine how yr email could be regarded as offensive - it was fascinating. I thought the skeletons all looked rather jolly, jumbled together, totally flouting any social distancing dictates. I'd hoped to comment earlier but unplanned stuff can change the direction of yr day.

Some of those cheerful corpses may well be ancestors of mine, since, so far as l know, my forebears were almost exclusively Anglo Saxon and Scandi.

It seems the Danes, Swedes, Finnish, Russians and other people groups have vied for that area for hundreds of years. Since official historybook dates can often just be a convenience (eg AD410 = the Romans vacated Britain), l guess land hungry, battle hunting Scandinavian farmers could have gone a-wiking elsewhere long before they set fire to Lindisfarne and 'officially' started the Viking era.

Looking forward to Thursday
Enjoy yr week
Christine

Ray:

?

I would venture to say that your moving is more important than the face-to-face meeting; just keep to the Zoom presentation for this upcoming Term 1-2021. I missed why you felt the Viking ship PP might have been inappropriate; seemed fine to me. Perhaps Aboriginal people would be alarmed in taking about the dead but they are not related to the Vikings, so no worries.

?

Cheers, Bill Nichols

Hi Ray and All in our Group,

I am presently in Stanthorpe, not due home until Friday. ?However, in response to your request, Ray, re possible opening of U3A classes:

Until there is a widely available effective vaccine, I feel uncomfortable sitting around a table with people not from my own household. ?Nor do I feel comfortable travelling on public transport. ?I have not done so since the initial Covid-19 outbreak.

My personal preference would be to continue on Zoom until the Covid-19 pandemic is behind us. ?I have been making voluntary payments per lesson for Zoom and am happy to continue to do so. ?This way U3A is not disadvantaged in any way by our class remaining on Zoom.

More on the other points raised in your email later.

With kind regards,
Merlene

Hi Ray,

?I thought the ?article on your Viking ancestors was great and I don’t see how any one could be offended.

With regards to the bible class next year Margaret and I would prefer to stay with zoom (considering the wild behaviour your ancestors this may be the safest)?
but if the class consensus is for meetings in town we are happy with that.

Blessings,

Ian

Sorry, Ray, l realise that l forgot to state preference for class situation next year.?

Whilst l do miss the social aspect of meeting in the city and find it more conducive to freer discussion, zooming has many positive and perhaps preferable aspects at this time.

I daresay, however, that we'd all be content with whichever better suited your situation.

Thanks for asking for our opinions
