iGaging dro thoughts
I know a couple of you guys are using iGaging dro's. Anyone got the newer absolute version with the stainless steel scales?
Just looking for an opinion. I've never seen one in person. I've kind of given up on being able to use the Newall scale I have for anything close to a reasonable price for what it'll be used for. Saw a 38" travel for $128.00. Supposed to be considerably more accurate than the aluminum version. Armored cable would be nice, kind of worried about hot chips.? Since I only want 1 axis the cost is manageable. Thanks, Dave |
My iGaging DROs on my mill work great mixture of older version and two years ago newer versions not sure if they are aluminum or stainless steel, to cold to go over to the shop to check! Just took possession of the 36" absolute version. See that they list +/- .013 for 36". Nothing else to report at this point because I haven't mounted it yet. Dave: I have had the EZ View DRO Plus on the my Atlas 10f for a couple of years, and the older iGaging DRO on my Smithy 13x24 for about five years.? Both have aluminum scales. I find both to be very accurate, easily bettering the advertised accuracy of 0.002"/6".? And both are reliably repeatable, bettering the advertised 0.001/6". The wiring on the Smithy sits in the bottom of the chip pan, amongst all the sawrf, but has never failed, though it has gotten a bit stiff.? The wiring on the Atlas is away from the chips, so is not an issue.? But I also very rarely use coolant. HTH,? Bill

开云体育Hi Ralph,? Yeah, I'm just looking for a Z axis readout.? Micrometer stops and indicators are? a pain on a good day! I looked at the touch dro, on a mill it would be way more full featured than the igaging display but 1 axis on an Atlas?? Thanks, Dave? 开云体育Hi Mike, Looks like the SS model has a claimed accuracy of .003" over 38" and the 36" aluminum one is .013 over it's travel. Thermal expansion and contraction? Either way beats the crap out of indicators and micrometer stops in my opinion. Even at work most of my parts are kind of short. Yeah, it was a little chilly Wednesday! Thursday morning temperature wasn't any better but the wind died down some. Dave On January 30, 2019 at 5:37 PM Michael Alsup <mbalsup@...> wrote: |
I have the stainless steel version(AccuRemote 24" SUPER HIGH ACCURACY DIGITAL READOUT). I had the same chip and abrasion concern.? Here's a picture of my approach to the problem.? The cable management was about $15 from McMaster Carr if I remember correctly.? It's actually the second one I ordered, as the first one had an open top, but the end fittings were closed and the connectors wouldn't fit through.
