Re: iGaging dro thoughts

I have the stainless steel version(AccuRemote 24" SUPER HIGH ACCURACY DIGITAL READOUT). I had the same chip and abrasion concern.? Here's a picture of my approach to the problem.? The cable management was about $15 from McMaster Carr if I remember correctly.? It's actually the second one I ordered, as the first one had an open top, but the end fittings were closed and the connectors wouldn't fit through.

Hi Mike,

Looks like the SS model has a claimed accuracy of .003" over 38" and the 36" aluminum one is .013 over it's travel.

Thermal expansion and contraction? Either way beats the crap out of indicators and micrometer stops in my opinion.

Even at work most of my parts are kind of short.

Yeah, it was a little chilly Wednesday! Thursday morning temperature wasn't any better but the wind died down some.

Just took possession of the 36" absolute version. See that they list +/- .013 for 36". Nothing else to report at this point because I haven't mounted it yet.

I know a couple of you guys are using iGaging dro's. Anyone got the newer absolute version with the stainless steel scales?
Just looking for an opinion. I've never seen one in person.

I've kind of given up on being able to use the Newall scale I have for anything close to a reasonable price for what it'll be used for.

Saw a 38" travel for $128.00. Supposed to be considerably more accurate than the aluminum version.
Armored cable would be nice, kind of worried about hot chips.?
Since I only want 1 axis the cost is manageable.

Thanks,
Dave
