best I can say is check an Enco cataloge . they have plan back chucks for
cheap at times . I spent a great deal of time trying to get the 6" one I got
with my lathe to clamp on center the jaws where realy messed up , I gave up
and bought a new one and sold the old chuck with my other lathe . I spent
$250.00 on the new one it was worth it . mounted it took a piece of clean
stock chucked it up but the dial indicator on it and it was right on . then I
found out the bed was worn made a long cut and it has an awful taper to it up
by the head stock . oh is the chuck you have a single pinion 3 pinion? I can
always keep an eye out for parts . do you think it can be welded and
remachined . since its not real critical you might be able to weld it and
grind the teeth into shape with a dremel tool . the abraisive cut wheels they
have for them removes metal real well and you should be able to reach
inbetween the teeth . shape them by eye just a thought

Hi Guys,
I'm Skip Campbell from Ft.Worth,Texas. New to metalworking,I need all
the help I can get. One thing to start with is I have a 5" 3 jaw chuck
that has a couple of teeth missing on the pinion gear. Any ideas?

Just curious Skip, is it an original Atlas/Craftsman chuck? Clausing
can't help you out on that particular part. I see Bob made a
suggestion of "remachining it". I've not scratched the surface of my
machine yet. Hopefully will as time permits, then I'll have a better
understanding of what you are working with.

Thanks Bob,
My chuck is a single pinion. I'd thought about building up and
remachining it. If I can't locate a replacement,I'll give that a try.
